My niece is turning 8 soon. I want to make her a bracelet with some fancy beads on it to help her feel like she’s a young lady now but I don’t know how big around her wrist is. I was wondering if a few of you Dopers who have girls her age would measure their wrists for me and tell me the results? I certainly would appreciate it. Thanks!
We sell women’s bracelets and girl’s bracelets…women’s are 7.25", and girl’s are 6.5". I’d recommend making a bracelet with elastic cord so that the exact size isn’t crucial if she is bigger or smaller than the average. I’ve had some eight-year-old girls in the store who were too large for the women’s sizes…
Thanks, kittenblue! My niece is slender so I imagine 6.5 is about right. I bought some rollo chain at the bead store and the co-owner of it thought 6 inches plus the clasp would be big enough. Since they sell it by the half foot, I went with a full foot to be on the safe side. After all, I can always take extra links off if need be but I don’t have the expertise or equipment to add more on. But it would be nice if it fit right the first time. Thanks again!
