Can you really make a living bitching about how people spell your name?
Not necessarily. Could be a niece or a nephew.
Welcome to the SDMB, shaynahasnoclue (you may wish to change that if you decide to stick around).
Well, not NOW, obviously. Back in 2000, it was practically a cottage industry. You 2005 n00bs can’t be expected to know that, though, so you’re forgiven.
THIS time.
Come to think of it, ESPECIALLY on account of the fact that you might actually know Shayna personally.
They got shot for naming their daughter Allison Anne Alleyson?
Aw, man. For a brief moment, I thought that perhaps Esprix was back.
Yeah, me too. That was the only reason I clicked on the thread.
Touché! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Pfft. That’s nothing. My grandmother’s been dead 20 years, but she annoyed me so much sometimes that to this day I’ll occasionally drive out to the cemetery and glare at her headstone for a while.
Goddamn it I start reading a thread and it’s all like awesome and fun and then I realize it’s from 2000.

I know! I was all diisappointed. I’m coming back in 13 years to curse noclue out.
Forgive me. I had thought it was “ess-pricks” (making no French association with the name), and let it go at that. OK. Ess-pree. I got it now. When I was in high school, some people wrote my name as “Dough Montgummery.”
Well if you really miss him, you can always say hello here

Did you just now get that, dougie?
Wow.
And here I was, all set to bitch about yet another Christmas of my in-laws spelling my name wrong, after seeing the correct spelling for 13 years now. My husband’s cousin has the same name, but she spells her version without an E, so I guess they all figure that’s the only way it can be spelled. Heaven forbid they should actually LOOK at how I spell it in all the emails and cards I’ve given THEM over the years.
Hmm, I might have a little pent-up bitterness about this.
I’ve seen some dumb misspellings of my name. “Emilie” I don’t mind as much, because it’s close to the French version of my name, but I hate it when people spell my name “Emely” or “Emilly.” Arrgh.
So wait a second … are you guys saying Rix doesn’t have ESP?
I feel like I’ve been living in a lie these last thirteen years.
Ehh… we have a (Swiss) last name that gets misspelled all the time. My kid got a part in a skate video, with his name super’ed over him doing a trick.
Yep, wrong spelling. I told him to get used to it, he says he doesn’t care.
If he or my wife ever does, we could always pick a new last name. Maybe Jones (Jeâuxnz?)
I only just KNEW about it.
