I mean, I can understand if a thread is like 3, 4, 5 pages long - God knows I’ve done that myself. But if it’s a serious subject, and there’s an ongoing debate, and there’s a reasonable amount of material, could you please read the entire fucking thread before replying? You make a jackass of yourself inserting the same point that’s been hashed, re-hashed, and re-re-hashed in the four posts above yours, and shows not only your selfishness and ignorance but your boorishness as well.
Oh, and while we’re at it - read the fucking OP thoroughly before going off half-assed and looking like a shmuck. Quoting the OP as being a jackass because s/he said something, when in the OP it specifically states that is not what s/he meant, further proves your knee-jerkiness and lack of attention to detail; or, barring that, you’re reading at a third-grade level, in which case your mommy shouldn’t be letting you read grown-up web sites like Uncle Cecil’s.
Yeah. That annoys me. In addition. Responding to a thread, without really paying attention to what the OP states (this is more of a problem in IMHO and MPSIMS).
What I do is:
Open a reply in a SECOND BROWSER WINDOW and then calmly start replying to each person who has answered my last post. I switch back and forth between the browser windows (I usually have at least three websites open at the same time anyways) and keep reading, typing replies as I go.
That’s why I often have several points to make in my replies.
(my own personal pet peave -which i do my self most of the time- is people who get totally bent out of shape because they misunderstood something in the OP)
The only one I’m reasonably sure doesn’t suffer from this is the one where I’m the only poster. I’m pretty sure I knew what I meant in its OP, but I didn’t read it.
Uhm… excuseme it’s “How” you mindless vapor head, how fucking dare you post something incorectly written around here?? I will now discount any and all points you make throughout your post because no one who spells incorrectly is worth listening to. You worm.
(it also really pisses me off when people ignore valid points in favor of spelling and syntax errors)
Okay, fine… not reading an entire thread before responding is in bad form.
EXCEPTION:
If there is either a post or a series of posts that contain several quotes (responding to a single post), breaking down a previous post into individual sentences and responding to each sentence individually (you know what I’m talking about), then I will ignore it. I can scarecely think of anything more irritating than a thread fully of fragmented replies (which I will refer to as “frag posts” in the future").
If a thread has four or five pages, at the VERY FUCKING LEAST, read the last couple of pages, okay? It’s not that much reading! Sure, it’ll take you a half hour, but jeez, if it’s so damn important that you need to try to debate something, get a bit of background, okay?
Hey Esprix, if you ever decide you’re into chicks, let’s make out.
I’ve wanted to start this thread about a bajillion times, but I keep getting distracted by shiny things. Odd, isn’t it, that I can hold the shiny things at bay until AFTER I have read each thread in its entirety… My point, of course, is that even someone with a limited attention span like myself can read a WHOLE thread before replying.
Oh, who am I kidding? Most of the time when I work up the nerve to post, I’m drunk. Still, I do my best to read the WHOLE thread before throwing my opinion in the mix. And if my drunk ass can be bothered to read everything before responding, so can the rest of you sober kids. Really. It’s not that hard. What you do is LOOK at all the WORDS that people TYPED before you opened the thread. If you look at them in order, sometimes you can understand complete thoughts. If you can’t understand what someone is trying to say, they will most likely explain it, if you ask.
And here’s a little advice for those of you that don’t have time to read an entire thread : don’t reply. I know that it hurts to think of all the board members and lurkers having to live without your wisdom, your insight, your knowledge… but maybe the lot of us can get through the day if you’re too busy to read one whole thread. Really. MAYBE, just maybe, we’ll survive if you don’t throw your two cents in… And if you wake up tomorrow and the board is gone, you’ll get to enjoy that satisfied kinda feeling, knowing that we did NOT live without your input. Think of the power you have while you pipe the fuck down!
Damit Sprx, the Arthur Fiedler speed rdn cours I took said I only hd to rd th frst sntnce and the last paragrph nd I culd undrstnd it all. I wnt my mony bk.
While we’re on the subject, I’d like to add that all posts should be read before a reply is posted. I can understand if a thread is like 3, 4, 5 pages long, ut if it’s a serious subject, and there’s an ongoing debate, and there’s a reasonable amount of material, could you please read the entire fucking thread before replying?
I also find it annoying when someone pops up on page 3 to debate a point from page 1. Cheese and Rice! Some people.
