Friday Night: I believe there are many smaller gatherings being planned for Friday night, some of them unpublished for whatever reason. I suggest sending e-mail to those you’d like to hook up with on Friday and attempt to horn in on whatever they may be doing, if they indeed do have plans. They may not yet either.

AND, Jessica2 has so kindly offered to split her room at the DoubleTree with me, so guess what? Dyno, Joey, Mike? You won’t have to put up with me begging for a ride home at 4 am!! It’s true!! Rejoice!
That’s right. Now I can beg tiggeril to help me back to the hotel when I’m drunk and stumbling around. 
I just talked to the dude at Timothy O’Toole’s again. We have The Guinness Room at 8pm on April 6th (along with a few stand-up tables just outside the room) - those showing up earlier can just congregate in the bar if the room isn’t ready. We have a pool table. We have dart boards. We have NTN trivia in the main bar. We have food. We have booze.
I am so ready for this.

I’ll be driving in from Ohio on Friday, and as I don’t have to work Friday, and don’t have to be anywhere until Sunday night, my options are pretty open. I’d planned to leave Ohio Friday morning, which would put me in Chicago in mid-afternoon. If anyone still needs a ride from the airport/train station/county jail, I’d be willing to jik the timing to help out. Also, I believe the only Dopers I’ve met that will be there are Cranky, Persephone, and Shadowfox, three hotties who will already have all the male attention they can handle. So if there are any other newbies who haven’t found a group to hang with, email me and we can arrange a mutual support group until we get to know some of the others.
I won’t be there after all. 
Some family things have come up and I’m needed elsewhere. Raise a glass for me.

I got off of my wide (and firm yet pliant) derriere this morning and called Travelocity customer service and got it all straight and they sent my confirmation email and I got it almost immediately which means that as long as I don’t lose my driver’s licence before Friday (knock on wood) and I get them printed out on paper that my kids had NOT drawn all over (why there’s a bunch of already drawn-on paper in the printer tray is an exercise for the student) I am totally 100% on the way and going and everything and I’m excited but I won’t be truly excited until I’m actually on the plane but I’m more excited than I was before I knew for sure that I’d gotten everything worked out and I am totally all kinds of all over being SO VERY THERE!!!

I had been planning to commute to the ChiDope festivities from the Joliet/Lockport area (an hour or so from the city), where I have family. But with the events calendar filling up, and the increasing likelihood of beverage consumption, that’s looking less wise. So, um, I was wondering if anyone had any floor space they’d be willing to rent me for Friday and/or Saturday night. I’m housebroken, have my own bedroll, and would chip in on the bill.
