Welcome home ChiefScott!
>Bluesman does a welcome-home flyover for our sailor boys<
Welcome home from me and Bluesman, Chief. It’s too bad we can’t be there to watch the Ike pull in, but since neither of us is an unattatched female, you probably wouldn’t have noticed us anyway.
Are you on land yet??
Hooray!!
Zette
Well, it looks as though we’re ahead of schedule! We just manned the rail (smart loking sailors in dress whites encircling the flight deck and exposed weather decks.)!
Approaching the Monitor-Merrimack Bridge-Tunnel.
One and a half hours to go!!!
It’s about time to switch to minutes, ain’t it Chief?
One lousy hour!!! And it stil looks as though we’re a tad ahead of schedule!
The excitement is thick aboard IKE!
I can see the pier and the crowd. Just passed the marina hotel where I’m spending the weekend with my son.
Okay!
54 minutes!

Totally OT
This reminds me of one of the most moving things I’ve ever experienced. I was at Pearl Harbor in January and while we were on the actual monument, a carrier came up the channel and * everybody on board* was stading at salute on the port side. Everyone from the captain to the helicopter pilots to the lowest squid stood at full attention for the 5 minutes or so it took the carrier to pull past the Arizona, etc. Not a sound was made. It was awesome. The park personnel told us that’s SOP for all ships stationed at Pearl, they do it every time they pass the momument. How cool is that?
Pretty cool.
But not as cool as 54 minutes!
Ahhh, you must be so excited now.
You really hit land soon.
Have a great time with your son
and some lucky woman later…
Nestling up to the pier now!!!
Whoo-hoo! It looks as if we’ll be moored early, like in about 10 minutes!!!
It’s certainly apparent that the Chief is excited about getting home.
Purp handing him a beer and Falc being tamed are nowhere on the radar screen.
I’ll be in a meeting when you dock, chief. No telling what time today I’ll be back to the board.
Welcome home!
Chief, although I do not know you, and I think we’ve never even really had words, I welcome you back to this land that I love so dearly. And, for that matter, back to land in general.
Slaughter the cattle and hide the children! Or vise versa!
Welcome Home, Chief!!!
WOO-HOO, He’s back!
stands on the dock in Norfolk and flashes Chief
Welcome home, sailor.
smooch
Welcome back to the land of the living Chiefy. Have a great time with your son, I bet he can’t wait to see you!!
(meeting is cancelled)
: stands on shore and offers a salute to the Chief :
: listens to background music playing “hail to the chief” :
: misunderstands lyrics as “to hail with the chief” :
“Hail, Chief!”
“Hail, Yeah!”
Moored! Shift colors! Let the debauchery begin!!
Shit! I don’t believe it! I missed the boat twice - Jacksonville and Norfolk! Oh, well, I wish Chief the best of leave with his son. We all know that he’s a good dad, but will he spend all his leave with his son? If not, has anyone started a collection for the ChiefScott Bail and Legal Defense Fund?
