Fair Winds And Following Seas.. For ChiefScott

In a few days my Chief will be leaving for a six month deployment. Please join me in wishing him a safe return. This is the hardest thing a military family goes through. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I would say, keep the smile on our face, but for all of you that know ChiefScott, I better not…
I will say, keep the laughter in our hearts. He will be back in town Sunday night for his final few days. I thought these good wishes would be nice waiting for him.

And to my Chief, your GBS will be waiting on the shore for your ship to sail home again.

Girlbysea (AKA: ChiefScott’s GBS)

That’s nice, GBS. I wish him a bon voyage myself. We’ve exchanged a few posts and I know he was joking when he ragged on me in my “seventy-five degrees” thread here in MPSIMS and in his “Smiley Master” thread in the Pit. It was fun and funny.

I was in the Navy myself, but I was assigned to a Reserve tin can. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is, it’s a destroyer used exclusively to give sailors in the Navy Reserve their required weekends and two consecutive weeks of duty that the Reserve requires. (Or they did when I was in the Navy twenty years ago; the requirements may be different now.) Consequently, I was never at sea for more than two weeks. We went from Alameda, California, to Anchorage, Alaska, one time and, on a separate tour, went to Hawaii and back to Alameda. We also shuttled between Alameda and San Diego a lot.

Anyway, I wish the Chief a good tour and hope you two have a lot of fun together when he gets back.

Chief! Um, have a nice trip?

(Trying not to sound funereal – ) Sorry you have to go but filled with pride to know someone who’s willing to serve me and my country.

p.s. If you get depressed stay away from the consoles with the keys and the big red buttons, okay?

Best wishes for a safe deployment to Chief. And, GirlBySea, I know you have only recently stopped lurking here, but why not stop by the SD chat sometime? We would love to have you there, and it may help you pass the time and give you some people to share stories with. Good luck to both of you!

safe trip Chief!

And may I second Zette’s invite to chat. We are good company!

Didn’t know you were a Chief, Chief. Used to be an avionics tech in the USNR, m’self. Have fun. What are you sailing on? You’re not shipping for six months as a submariner, I hope!

Wishing for smooth seas & an uneventful cruise for you, Chief. Bon voyage.

Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.

APB9999, I seem to recall that Chief is berthed aboard the USS Eiseinhoer(sp?). A very good ship, my brother served aboard her for his ROTC cruise.

Chief, Watch your skull with the bulkheads and remember, the big pool outside is not for swimming in.

Here’s to a quiet and uneventful sail, ChiefScott. Thanks for doing the good work and protecting our civilian butts.

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!
