Courtney Love has been institutionalized

And I, for one, am SHOCKED! Simply SHOCKED, I tell you!

Did I read that right? It wasn’t drugs, it was a gynecological thing?

I’m seen some nasty yeast infections up close, but they were never so bad that I thought I should, like, take legal responsibility for the poor creature and shut her up in a room with yellow wallpaper.

What the hell?

Tertiary syphillis. I’d lay a bet.

Oh, Jesus. That’s actually pretty freaking plausible. :eek:

Here I thought she was getting ready to play Frances Farmer.

If the institution is in fact a mental institution, it can do nothing but help. It seems that she’s had a number of pretty shitty things happen to her over the years (some of which are self inflicted such as losing custody of her kid) so losing another kid wouldn’t exactly be good for her wellbeing. It could be the 8-ball that finally destroyed her heart (to put it in terms she’d understand). All she’s gone through couldn’t be handled by a well balanced person let alone someone as obvoiusly on the edge of sanity as she is…

BTW, does anyone know who has custody of Frances Bean? I seem to recall it was Courtney’s parents, but I could be wrong.

(And, I’d like to add, that second picture of her in that article was truly horrifying!)

Blender.com (And apparently the NY Post) said:

*The New York Post reports that police were originally called to the singer’s fourth-floor apartment after receiving complaints that she was throwing bottles into the street. Love was later spotted in the lobby of her building complaining, “Today is my birthday and I had an abortion.” *
Who knows?

Something like that. Courtney is only allowed to see Frances if C.'s stepfather is present at all times during the visit.

I hope she smartens up. She’s bloody talented and the most charismatic female stagepersonality I know.

I agree she’s bloody talented. Her performance in The People vs. Larry Flint completely blew me away, and while I’m not a fan of Hole, it’s definitely got a style all of its own.

But Sweet Mother of God, talk about “letting yourself go”. She’s only 40, ferpetesakes.

All I can say is that its about time.

Frances Bean is 11 already? God, I feel old :frowning:

I wish her only the best.

(I also know that several of us have her on our Celebrity Death Pool lists - so, maybe we don’t really wish her the “best,” more like ‘Clean up enough to be an attractive corpse.’)

She’s a trainwreck waiting to happen. I think this is the best thing that could happen to her. Once she straightens up, she can get her kid back and try to re-build her life. I feel very sorry for her. She’s obviously very ill and in need of help. I hope she makes it.

I feel bad for her, too. I can’t believe those two pictures are only two months apart.

I’ve already written my entries for CDP05, and she’s #2, right after Tammy Faye, who is rumored to have terminal cancer.

It is a shame to see her waste her life. Maybe she has finally hit rockbottom will get the help she needs.

I Looked at this link: http://www.stereogum.com/archives/000669.html, posted by AveDementia in another thread and thought, OMG, she’s taking lessons from Courtney Love.

Speaking as a psychiatric inmates’ liberation front militant and advocate, I’m here to tell you that psychiatric “services” will not…

::pauses in mid-soapbox rant::

waitaminnit, does this mean we might have Courtney Love numbered amongst us?

::visceral shudder::

If Courtney’s mom and stepdad have custody of Courtney’s child, I wouldn’t hold out a ton of hope that she’s much better off than if the child was with Courtney. The biographies I’ve seen about Courney Love seemed to paint a pretty depressing picture of her childhood.

I know, I know, that’s a huge surprising considering how she turned out.
