So what do you think of the anti Trump protests so far?

The lack of turnout due to everyone hating Trump made me laugh. As did the Republican getting punched in the face on TV.
He’s trying to kindle a revolution.
Protesting is a great American tradition. I wish them all luck!
The anti-Trump rallies are a global phenomenon:
The last I heard the Washington, D.C. one had hit half a million people and was still growing. The photos of the Mall from yesterday as compared with today are really striking.
I’m not a huge fan of Republicans, but I won’t insult them by associating them with the likes of Richard Spencer. He’s not a Republican, he’s a neo-nazi.
The protests are giving me hope that the Trump election has spawned an unstoppable progressive movement.
This summary from CCC is pretty good. Money quote:
Too violent in places, but I have the highest respect for (and agreement with!) their message. The Women’s Marches, in Washington and L.A., are particularly impressive.
Giving me hope that Trump may have actually united the majority of the country.
Which I’m sure he will try and take full credit for, and claim it was his plan all along.
I’ll believe it when they actually vote for a progressive majority in Congress. Until then, we could have a billion people march in the streets and nothing will change.
They’re rioting crybabies, sore losers, their opinions don’t matter. Also there are hardly any protesters compared to the inauguration if you don’t count the illegals bussed in from Canada by the Times.
How long can he keep that up?
I think the anti-Trumpers may be peaking their energy too soon. Hatred is hard to keep up and leads to burnout after a while. By the time 2020 comes around, opposition to Trump may actually be on the downswing and a decline, at a time when the Democrats need it to be hitting its peak.
I think the limit is about four hours, then you have to go tell a doctor, so he can prescribe some for himself. In my circles, four hours is passing the audition, but standards vary.
Still, the rampant carnage of these protests is clearly on display, just saw a news piece about six men standing round two burning garbage cans, and fifty TV crews recording it.
It’s not about hatred.
Whatever it may be termed, opposing something takes a lot of energy, and is bad for the health, and drains emotions, etc. And without a doubt, there are also many anti-Trumpers who genuinely hate Trump, even if their opposition isn’t ultimately about hate for hate’s sake.
You know the best way to energize people? Make the think they are not being heard. We learned that the hard way.
Two years ago I would have said the same thing about Donald Trump.
I sincerely doubt it - this is just venting. If any such movement were to arise ( and I’m deeply skeptical because…well…I’m a skeptic by nature and U.S. doesn’t lean progressive IMHO ) it would be from years of sustained High Trumpian idiocy. If his term settles down into just a mostly low George W. Bush-style murmur of quiet incompetence, so too will all but the true activists amongst his opponents settle down.
Honestly I think I might prefer that. I shudder to think how much damage Trump would have to cause to convert a large section of the U.S. into “progressives”.
Actually, here is why keeping in mind that the Democrat got the plurality of voters is important.
We should remember that most Americans do not agree with Trump, Of course you get the point that many do not belong to an organized party, they are Democrats.
Still, I also do agree with the venting part, not very useful. To be useful help or join the groups that will be essential to get over the [del]hump[/del] Trump years.
(Not a complete list for sure, one I do think will be crucial will be Climate Science Defense fund And call your congress critters to tell the Trump goons to not defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.)
