I thought it would be helpful to start tracking closures and cancellations in one place.

Please add any information that you find that seems relevant.

Update in blue, below

Syracuse postponed/cancelled it’s St. Patricks Day Parade for this weekend (one of the biggest in the country). Boston did as well.

And, the governor of Cuomo has issued a ban on gatherings of over 500 people (schools, churches, hospitals are exempt).

South By Southwest music festival was canceled, with NO refunds.

The NFL has canceled their annual league meeting. The draft will almost certainly be without fans, and possibly held virtually.

My mother-in-law’s senior HOA annual party has been canceled. She was heavily involved in planning it.

Seattle area schools just went from closed two weeks up to six weeks.

They cancelled the air show at March Air Reserve Base in SoCal, which is pretty ironic since that was the place they were qurantining the initial people evacuated from Wuhan.

Is it the first air show that got cancelled?

Damnation! Our city St. Patrick’s Day parade has just been canceled. Grumble.

In my field, a large conference in Europe was canceled a week ago, and another conference in San Diego was just made virtual.

The LA Times has a list of cancelled conferences, and notes that 260 have been cancelled in Europe alone.

From my reading, it is now more likely that a big conference will be canceled than not.

The city of St. Louis has banned gatherings of more than 1000 people

The University of Missouri system remains open but on-campus classes are suspended till 3/15. Classes will be delivered online

Multiple universities in the St. Louis area are also moving to online only classes, including Washington University, St. Louis University, and my employer Maryville University.

The downtown St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which draws about 250,000 people annually, has been postponed. So has a smaller parade in the Dogtown neighborhood of St Louis City and multiple events in the suburbs of Cottleville MO, Belleville IL, and Waterloo IL.

State of Indiana has banned gatherings of more then 250 people.

IU, Purdue and notre dame moving to online classes for a few weeks.

Indianapolis public schools moving to online classes.

Michigan
All public universities, multiple private colleges and universities and community colleges are closed and doing online courses until further notice
High School sports are cancelled
The Henry Ford Museum is closed for a week
The governor just closed all K-12 schools through April 5.
And incidentally, our church is cancelling services until further notice. That seems like it would be a first in many people’s lifetimes.

University of Chicago and Loyola closing the doors, all classes moving on-line
St. Louis Public Schools, including elementary schools, expected to go to half-days
The nursing home my father is in has banned all visitors until further notice.

The Chancellor of the California Community Colleges–the largest system of higher education in the nation–just gave the individual districts permission to move all classes online without going through the normal (lengthy) approval process. 20 of the 119 districts have started the process.

All over the state they’re throwing together massive Canvas training programs, attended by instructors who previously avoided it.

So they aren’t really closing–just going online.

The XFL just cancelled the rest of the season. Might be it for the league, as it just started.

A friend in Newport, RI says their parade has been canceled.

Teen-aged neighbor tells me all high school dances and sporting events are canceled.

I want to add this: I am far from panicked, but it’s crucial to get in front of this virus. My state has been slow to react. I hope yours isn’t.

Same for my mom’s nursing home. :frowning:
