COVID-19 closures, postponements and cancellation

Washington State has closed private and public schools in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties from March 17th at the very latest until April 24th.

The University of Washington and Seattle University have gone online until the end of the quarter.

Central Washington University (Ellensburg-it’s the boonies) will hold classes tomorrow (last day of the quarter), but all finals will be online.

Seattle Public Libraries will close March 13 at 6pm until at least April 13, but have online access.
Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Asian Art Museum are closed through March 31 at least.

Boston Marathon - postponed
Tokyo Marathon - cancelled (except for elites)
Barcelona Marathon - postponed
Rome Marathon - cancelled
NYC Half Marathon - cancelled
Paris Marathon - postponed
Seoul Marathon - cancelled

It’s like all of American society is coming together organically to save itself while the president and his administration bang their coconuts together, collectively shit on saltines and call it a dinner party.

Mulan and New Mutants premiers postponed, with no new date of release given.

Same for my MIL’s.

Shifted to most/all winter quarter finals online, and/or delayed start of spring term, and/or several weeks or all of spring term taught remotely:

Western Oregon University is still running in-person classes and finals but will shift to online after break for at least 2 weeks.
Portland Community College is ramping up for online instruction but hasn’t moved to a requirement for this.

Chapman University in Orange California announced on Wed and went on line today. They have no cases but are located about 5 miles from Disneyland.

Broadway theaters have shut down (New York governor banned most mass gatherings with over 500 people).

The Sydney Royal Easter Show has been cancelled in Australia.

Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) have canceled all gatherings worldwide, including worship.

My friend says his his Tinder date that he had set up a week in advance cancelled on him on account of the virus.

I had tickets to see Postmodern Jukebox next week in NYC. They have postponed it and will hopefully come back in the Fall.

Hard Rock Hell AOR in Great Yarmouth is “postponed” but I reckon Chic Festivals really mean “cancelled 'cos we didn’t stick to our contractual agreements”.

The album launch tour for Snake Oil and Harmony is also off as one of the singers is in Prague and can’t get a flight out.

Here is the latest update from the church newsroom regarding that, along with the latest on the church education system (the various BYU campuses, LDS Business College, and whatever primary and secondary schools the church runs.

The worship services had already been canceled here in China for a while, and a couple of weeks ago, canceled in South Korea. I don’t know when other areas began their “no meetings” policies, but as RioRico mentioned, this is now a world-wide policy. Other faith groups are doing the same thing.

Perhaps a shorter list would be of things that haven’t been cancelled…
