…and now the gym on the 5th floor of my office building.
My kids’ schools are on spring break. They haven’t said they’ll be closed after that, but I don’t expect that they’ll be going back for a while.
Jimmy John’s was dead in the store, but the delivery drivers were hopping.
Districts in the Denver Metro area are all closing for 2-3 weeks as well.
All Louisiana schools are closed until April 13. Universities have gone to all online courses for the resit of this semester.
& it what appears to be a first, one neighboring county has closed all parks & trails. That literally was the only thing you could do, walk around outside. It’s not like one is in close contact with others there.
New York State just canceled jury duty and trials (for now). They still need to figure out the logistics of giving folks a speedy trial. But for now–no juries or grand juries.
My little rural county has banned gatherings of 250+. That should empty the WalMart.
But I don’t know what’s happening at the state prison holding a large chunk of the county’s population - just the usual biohazard and corrupt staff news, nothing about quarantine.
I found out that my Amtrak train was probably cancelled.
But that’s OK because the meeting I was going to go to on it got cancelled, too.
In Boston, the Sheraton Long Wharf hotel where they hosted the BioGen meeting responsible for most of the Massachusetts cases (thus far) got shut down. They don’t know for how long.
Oddly enough, one of my groups meeting this Monday did NOT close down. Despite Coronavirus.
Drive-By Truckers cancelled shows promoting their new album titled, The Unravelling. How prescient.
Had tickets to two shows.
All NCAA championships in all sports are cancelled. ACC went further and cancelled all sports for the spring .
April Fool’s Day has been cancelled.
Cause really, who is gonna be able to come up with a prank to top reality this year???
Maryland K-12 schools shut down for at least 2 weeks starting 3/16
Washington state has extended the school shutdown statewide until April 27th.
My office is suspending home care worker training, testing, etc. Part of my job is sending out notifications and stuff related to that, so one less hat to wear for a while.
Yeah, I’m hoping that my vacation out west later this spring isn’t going to be cancelled due to hotels and/or parks closing (there’s also National Forest and other public lands but they’re less likely to close). The hotels are probably slightly more dangerous than my everyday life, as I will still be interacting with fewer people but in new areas, but when I’m out of doors I’m going to be away from people rather than with them.
The SCA has been cancelling events, etc. left and right:
Gulf Wars - cancelled
All events, meetings, practices, etc. until the end of March are cancelled in:
Middle Kingdom
An Tir
Northshield
West Kingdom
Some kingdoms are postponing certain events, but not outright cancelling.
Most if not all schools in Houston have suspended classes. LOL. Just call it a year, already.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo cancelled the rest of its events about a week and a half early. A really big deal, considering the money at stake. NCAA South Regional games were canceled along with the Men’s Tournament.
OTOH, Houston museums are still open—We enjoyed the Menil Collection today—and stores haven’t closed. Albeit, there was a line to get into Costco. Like it was a nightclub. Madness.
We just had a neighboring county cancel schools until the middle of April, even though they have no reported cases of anyone in the county being infected.
All schools in Illinois were just ordered to close by the Governor.
Before an infection is confirmed is the very best time to close the schools. And I’m happy to say the schools in Shelby County (TN) and now today my district (Bartlett) have closed until the 30th at least. They say this will give them time to work on a contingency plan if they need more time, to deep clean the schools, and just give two more weeks of low contact. A lot of parents are upset because they’re losing out on free daycare, sadly, but some churches and the YMCA are offering assistance. These were unused snow days so it won’t have to be made up and I don’t get it, if we’d had snow cancellations what would those parents have done? Where would their children go then? It’s always good to have an emergency back-up for your child’s care.
