So, Bricker can address me as a Cowboy in GD and that’s ok. But, I cannot address Bricker as a Cowgirl in either GD or Elections. I asked if I was allowed to address anyone as a Cowboy or a Buckeroo* and got no answer except not to be a jerk. So, I’m asking here: Can I address anyone as a Cowboy and that’s ok? Can I address anyone as a Buckaroo and that’s ok? Can I address anyone ever as a Cowgirl? Please clarify. Thank you.
*I actually prefer Buckeroo, it just sounds so much cooler.
Despite your complaints, I’m unconvinced it was an insult that needed to be modded.
Unlike Bricker, I could see you were being deliberately insulting. In part that’s because you decided you wanted to call him cowgirl. You also made the brilliant decision to announce ahead of time that you were going to start calling him cowgirl as a taunt. Further, you then called him “cowgirl” in three different threads in about 15 minutes. None of that is allowed, and of course I told you even before you started that you shouldn’t do it.
That’s all the clarification you’re getting. I’m happy to explain the rules but I don’t like to enable game playing and stupid behavior. If you’re not sure what to do, steer clear of the whole thing.
Yeah, OK. I think a brief timeout is in order here. Maybe after a couple of days off you’ll come back with a better attitude. I assume that’s the end of this snit, so I’m closing this thread.
Just as a point of information: "Guess what, cowboy. . . " is a stock phrase used by a number of social groups in the U.S. It is not intended to mean the addressee is actually a cowboy. It is not used when “calling” a person a cowboy.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it is not a universal stock phrase throughout the U.S., so many folks are likely to misunderstand its usage when they first hear it. It is not, however, an example of “name calling.” It is more nearly related to opening a statement with “Duuude!” or similar words or phrases than it is to actually naming a person a cowboy.
