CPR class; a smackabout MMP

Not having heard of one personally, I would guess it is a long-haul transport unit for cardiac transfers, probably staffed by high end paramedics, nurse practitioners, and maybe a cardiologist. It would be far above a standard ALS unit, which may travel 30 minutes tops on a transport.

The purpose isn’t to do procedures en route, just keep the patient alive. Maybe they could administer fibrinolytics (clot busters) on the road, but they sure as heck are not doing anything with catheters or other whizbang medical stuff.

When I got into the office this morning, the alarm was blaring and the SJPD had left a false alarm notice on the front door. Turns out the building management “didn’t realize” we had an alarm in our suite. It didn’t occur to them to call the PD and let them know they had set off the alarm, either. At least we didn’t get fined.

Also, a client passed away this weekend. So, it’s Monday.

Just checking in, to let you all know I’m still internet-less but enjoying retirement nonetheless in Albuquerque.

Yay for SnakesCatLady return, and ChaoticBear too, you were both missed!

Hope to be back online soon, but don’t know when. :frowning: Missing you -all-!

BTW I will be in and out for a bit. This weekend we’re going to Indiana Beach and over the first part of July we’re taking an amusement park trip through New England - 2 days there, 6 parks in 6 days, 2 back. I will NOT be taking my laptop either time as every time I do take it on vacation my boss has an emergency. Not this round, Sparky.

Many assorted hugs as needed when I’m not here.

Hi guys!

Glad you’re back on the EMTing, Bobbio: it seems to be good for you personally, it’s always good to have more people helping people and it makes for some great stories

There was a CPR cert class this Saturday at the local pool but I totally forgot about it :smack: So, no certification for me. I got some CPR training way back when, as part of general “dealing with danger at work” training, but it’s been a looooong while.

Met my trainee today. Briefly considered using my boss for stew, as she kept interrupting and telling me what to tell the trainee - fer Og’s sake, woman, you’re paying me big bucks to train her, let me do the job! I’ve been training people since I was five effing years old, I know how to do it and this one is even smart and has transferable experience! (About half of the people I get to train in “how to use the big ugly blue database” haven’t touched a computer previously) Why is it so difficult to let subordinates do their damn job, uh?

Swampy’s bushes have finally recovered, too.

Hee BBBobbio I was just gonna comment on the bushes.

donkeybear!!! How’s my favorite all time stalker evah doin’?

Germy the only sure way to make sure a rattlesnake is daid is to nuke it from outerspace.

{{{Peedy}}} (we gotta work on that nickname) hope you’re feelin’ better.

Shadow sorry about your client.

Home from irk. In a bit I shall leave for the church house and men’s night. I’s hongry! Think I might make me a peanut butter sammich so’s I won’t waste away.

Later Y’all!

*pffffft *- what’s to know? Get on 5, turn left or right off 5 as applicable, turn a few more times as applicable, and there you are!

Home and appraised. As I walked in the door, the phone was ringing - **FCD **telling me that the appraiser would be here at 3:30 - it was just after 3 when he called. The appraiser arrived on time, spent about half an hour looking, taking pictures, and taking notes. I told him what we needed it to appraise for and he said there shouldn’t be a problem. So yay!

Work was interesting. Several people have been offered jobs at the FBI and they’re filling out assorted paperwork. They are also supposedly required to provide 3 stool samples from 3 separate, er, events.   I’m pretty sure someone is yanking their collective chain and I suggested they might want to call the person who hired them and find out what the deal is. In 37 years of government service, I’ve NEVER heard of such a requirement. Urine samples, yes. Poop? Um, no…

Got my car back - just under $300 for the 90K service. Apparently, I had a mouse build a nest behind the cabin filter. That could explain my allergic reaction in the car lately. But they took care of that and all the stuff on the list and I’m good for another 5K miles. I’m probably going to jinx it now, but I have yet to have a major problem with the car, not counting the deer collision. Mechanically, it’s been aces! Huzzah for my Scion!

Happy Monday. 28 work days to go, if they approve my retirement.

Yay, more **Bobbio **EMT stories!

swampy, I was down to my last half roll of toilet paper so I bought a new 12-pack today. Thought of you as I pulled it off the shelf.

I’m kind of worried. The English position at the local community college has disappeared from their website. But there’s a job fair there next Tuesday for three of the local cc’s so I’m going to that with a stack o’ resumes. I’m calling the HR tomorrow to see if the English job is gone or if it’s just sleeping.

Hey Bob! Sounds like a good lead on the job…I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you. My ex was a medic, you know…his biggest compliment was that I had nice veins in my wrists.
Just got back from driving my mom to Texas where she’ll be staying with a friend for a year. 3200 miles in 9 days…no wonder I’m tired. But the garden sure looks great, and it’s nice to be home after a few days away. (I didn’t realize my house was such a mess, though.)
Best,
karol

Yay for new rescue stories!

SCL? donkeybear? Nice to hear from both of you!

Congrats on the engagement, limey!

Sorry you’re feeling blue, peedin and Soapy. Hope the kitty picture helped.

Where are you working, donkey?

Longish day, but got quite a bit done at work, so there’s that.

Have been playing silly iPod games and relaxing. Should do laundry, find food and go for a walk. Not necessarily in that order.

Hugs all.

GT

I’m so glad you’re getting back into the EMT thing, Bobbio.

I’m sorry you’re blue**, Soapy.**

It’s great to see you again,** SCL and CB.** I was just thinking about you the other day, **SCL, **so it was nice to see you turn up here.

It was definitely Monday for me. I’m glad it’s over.

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night at the church house. ‘Twas fun as usual. Bein’ as we are such an official organization we did have a high level discussion tonight. I proffered the idea of a Parish fish fry the weekend of All Saint’s Day, which is, for those who are not aware, November 1st. This would place the day of the fish fry Saturday October 29th. YP thinks this is a good idea and reminded me that since I brought it up it would be mine to run with and plan. Ok, I kinda figured that would be the case even before I opened my mouth. The group is all for it which is good because that meant I could therefore recruit committee members. Of course, I will also recruit several ladies of the Parish. I’m all equal opportunity like that. I know right off the bat of at least five co-parishoners who are always all over anything to do with a fish fry so this should be fun to organize and do.

Also, YP stated that next Shrove Tuesday, instead of havin’ pancakes and sausages we should do biiiiiiiiig ass (really, his words!) bacon cheese burgers and fries because, for real, who gives up pancakes for Lent. I mentioned to him that since he brought it up that means the idea is his to run with. He said,ok, and YOU are my first committee member. Have I mentioned lately how much I like YP? He’s a hoot.

Spaz I’m glad you bought TP. However, bein’ down to a last half roll is unacceptable. From now on, you must at a minimum, go out and buy a twelve pack when you notice you are down to your last three rolls. One cannot take chances on such important matters now can one? BTW I am flattered that you thought of me whilst buyin’ TP. Should we be crossin’ appropriate/inappropriate appendages re the English position?

paper yikes! That’s quite a trip. Glad you and mom made it all safe and sound.

Ok, it’s beddy bye time for da bear.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Swampy - Fish fries are supposed to be on Friday.

Home from irk. Pony lame, no reason I can see. Vet hasn’t called me back. sigh It’s always something.

StG

I am going on a vacation to Tennessee at the end of the month. Why does time always draaaaaaaaaag when I’m looking forward to something?

Mostly, I’m bored. I’ve been staying over in Alabama at the cabin owned by Mr. SCL and his two sisters because we’ve been having a lot of trouble with break-ins. The cabin has been broken into 3 times and the utility trailer and trailer for the pontoon boat were also stolen.

To give you an idea of the mental level of these burglars, the last time the cabin was robbed they stole a fire safe. Taped on the top of the safe was a note reading “fire safe combination: XX-XX-XX”. The key was in the lock. The guys were caught after they pulled up in someone’s driveway and were trying to beat the safe open with a hammer.

Firesafe: $250
Damage to doors (double french doors) $800

Hello, felony!

We have an alarm system on the place, but this is a big county and it takes a while for the SD to respond. I like being up here, and will like it more when the ladder on the dock is replaced so I can go swimming. I just don’t like having to be up here. In addition, the only internet access is dialup, so my poor farm on Farmville has gone straight to hell.

I’m bored. Kitty is asleep. Someone entertain me, please.

Paper, hon, as much as I’d like to do the EMS thing for living, I could not afford the pay cut. 'Tis only a hobby, for lack of a better term.

I’m with your ex on the veins. I’ve been warped, because instead of the usual scoping of wimmin typical of hetero dudes, I go straight for the hands and arms looking for the good veins. I tell them that makes a medical pervert.

For that matter, I’m also a Hoosier pervert because I like sex more than basketball.

Nightey night. Time for my ugly sleep…

As long as you’re getting paid better to do something else, EMS for a hobby is a grand idea! I have plenty of hobbies that, monetarily speaking, are worthless. Plus there’s some good karma involved in that work.
I have a new man, and FWIW, he has GORGEOUS veins.

Oh, that’s right, it’s Monday. :smack:

SnakesCatLady-- our vacation was in Tennessee(Crossville). Whereabouts are you going?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 77 degrees Amurrkin out already! The predicted high is around a hunnert and two and no chance of rain. Dang though, with it bein’ this warm and hyoooooomid right now, it just feels like a tboomer is lurkin’ somewhere. I wish.

Snakes I gather the cabin is in Chambers County, Alabammy right? Alabammy has biiiiiiiiiig counties and most are pretty rural to boot. I remember when there was a one lane bridge there at the “backwaters” as we called the place when I was growin’ up. Still, bein’ stuck there because of break ins sucks.

Germy we’re rebels. We’ll fry fish on Sattidy and laugh at fate. Actually we traditionally (well, traditionally as in the past two years) do two fish ‘n chip suppers durin’ Lent down at all St. Pat’s. In order for that not to seem frivolous, it bein’ Lent and all, prior to fish 'n chips we have Stations of The Cross. We must be pious and penitent after all! Hope the pony is ok, poor thing.

Now I shall go seek out more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtificaton must commence.

Hark! Methinks I hear thunder rumbles in the distance! Or maybe a car backfired.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!
