Cracker

So i was shopping last week and spotted that Cracker (UK version) is now on DVD. I had seen a few episodes and enjoyed so bought them all to watch them in sequence.

I have currently watched the first 8 episodes (out of 10) and I have noticed a massive style change between the first 6, and episodes seven and eight. The last two I have seen are in a MUCH darker style than the previous ones, and whilst I have enjoyed them I prefer the other ones. Do the last 2 continue in this vein or do they regain their former style.

Also having read the synopsis of episode 10 ‘White Ghost’ i notice that it is set in Hong Kong. Does it retain the ‘feel’ of the series or is it a tacked on episode?

The last three episodes of the series were done without writer/creator Jimmy McGovern, which kind of explains the change of style.

I missed White Ghost, but from most reports I heard it was not that good.

That would explain it. Wish Jimmy had stuck with it, but then if he’d played out his stock of ideas what’s he supposed to do. Thanks for the info.
