Craft items that you just don't "get"

My mother used to do the wreaths (arrange silk and dried flowers, pine cones, ribbons, other stuff onto these weird wooden wreath things.) I’ve gluegunned a lot of ribbon and lace and silk. They would sell well.

I actually like those, though. Probably my bias, but I think of it as closer to flower arranging than the eyeless kid in the corner.

amarinth, I wasn’t thinking about wreaths - I do find some of those attractive. I have an ex-SIL who was into weird crafts - she’d glue all kinds of crap together. It was scary.

I was amused by this miniature zen garden kit.It would be kind of neat to have something like this at your work desk, maybe— but in my home at least one of the cats would be tempted to turn it into the Zen Garden Plus[sup]TM[/sup]!

Anyone here remember those horrible acrylic resin paperwieghts that folks loved to make in the seventies? My oldest sister used to make them with dried flowers, macaroni, and assorted legumes. First, she poured a layer of resin in a dome-shaped mold, then when that layer was set, she somehow arranged the bean/noodle/daisy crap in a concentric design, and added more resin. Finally, to add insult to injury, a circle of orange, harvest gold, or avacado green burlap was added to make the base of the paperwieght. Everyone in the family got “magnified” bean/noodle/flower mounds for Christmas in 1973. I lost mine almost thirty years ago…
