Craig Ferguson's Geoff Peterson: anybody catch the preprogrammed phrases?

because I didn’t. Bad ears, worse TV.

It was somewhat better on the second night. They’re still clearing the cobwebs out of Geoff and tweaking him, and the vocals will slowly get better. Then he’ll kill the hobos.

“That’s cold, Craig.”
“Who’s that at the door?”
“My favourite is Miss Dolly Parton.”
“Ha Ha Ha, You’re The Man, Craig.”
“Why not?”

Um. And a couple of others. He gave him different phrases the next night.

I think it was, “That’s gold, Greg.” As in, classic material.

Damned hobos.

I think it was, “That’s cold, Craig.” It’s a reference to Kevin Eubanks, whose catch phrase as Leno’s sidekick was, “That’s cold, Jay.”

Oh. I never watched Jay. Never mind.

There was also “I know!” There were supposed to be seven but I don’t know what the last one is.

Anyway they did revamp things for the second night. They added some phrases that were easier to work into a conversation: “Yes, Craig” and “No, Craig,” “It’s time to check the tweets,” and a line about one of the guests that night. The new voice is similar but a little less horrible, either because they didn’t have the same processing effects or because they thought the original was too brutal. I’m not sure about the changes. I actually liked the soul freezing quality of that voice. But I can see why he wants to be able to have something closer to a conversation with the robot. Craig was so excited about the robot that I want this to work out.

I hope they don’t retire “Ha ha ha, you’re the man, Craig” and “That’s cold, Craig.” They’re kind of perfect- they sound exactly like something you’d have seen in a mid-90s parody about a fictional Fox show with a sassy robot.

I have to go rummaging around in my recorded episodes and find these now. NOW, I SAY!

The capslock filter strikes again!

What did this to me? Firefox, SDMB, …?

You mean you weren’t licking your nose?

[bump] Anybody know?

There are some new ones like, “uh oh!” and him barking like a dog.

The SDMB has an all-caps filter. If all of the letters in your post are caps, it automatically puts them in lowercase instead.

The entirety of your post, minus the quotes, was:

:D:D:D minus the colons = DDD, all caps.

It’s annoying as hell, but there you go.

Ahh, thanks. And now I can say :D.
