Cranberries with stuffing?

My mother is now preparing real cranberries, which makes me happy! But, she’s planning on putting the cranberries in the stuffing(it’s Pepperidge Farm bagged stuffing and she says it’s “bla”).

What’s the opinion of this? She wants to make the stuffing with the cranberries with nuts? Is this good? Or is it the work of the devil? Yea, try everything, but I’ve never heard of this.

Oh, and she wants a recipe for stuffing with cranberries. Anyone have that?

Well, adding cranberries has never made anything taste worse, near as I can tell. Don’t see why you’d waste them on stuffing, though. And isn’t it a bit late to be hunting for stuffing recipes?

Anyway, try searching on epicurious, allrecipes, and the Food Network site.

Sadly, I don’t have a recipe, but I have had stuffing with cranberries in it. The trick is to not use too many cranberries, otherwise they lend their moisture to the surrounding stuffing and it gets a little soggy. Also very nice, the way I tried it, sprinkle some orange or lemon zest in - but not too much! The word of the day is “subtlety”…

She just came up with it today. Heh.

We’ve already found some recipies though and it looks like she’s going to go with one of those. It has apples and nuts in it too.

Should be interesting.

I never make stuffing without cranberries in it. If you are using fresh/frozen cranberries, the idea is to not use too many, and cut them in half first. They will taste tart. Dried ones are sweeter and you can use as many as you want.

I know it’s too late already but,
I’ve had cranberries in stuffing, and I don’t mind it at all. I prefer my cranberries sauced and served on the side, but it’s fine mixed in too. Nuts in stuffing, however, are straight from the pit of Hell itself. Besides, which nuts to choose? Is it peanuts, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, walnuts? Any nuts in stuffing are nuts of Satan. You know what I mean.

We just had our dinner - my mom also went avante garde and we had cornbread dressing with cranberries, apples, and sausage in it. Could have done without the sausage, but overall it was pretty good. A little too sweet, though.

We make a nice stuffing with onions and celery in it, and the cranberry salad is a completely separate dish. I really never even imagined putting the berries into the stuffing.

Have tossed a couple of handfulls of Craisins into our stuffing for the last few years. Love it. While pulling out the bag of Craisins this year I also spied a small leftover bag of dried cherries and those went in as well. I also add chopped pecans. Basic stuffing is a cornbread/sausage variety.

I won’t eat stuffing without cranberry sauce, personally.

Well, the suffing that resulted was pretty good, but kind of dry. I stopped eating it when the gravy ran out.

She ended up not putting buts in the stuffing. Walnuts went in the sweet potato casserole, which was YUMMY!
