Squid (calamari) has very little flavor-I like fried squid-its a good thing to dip into marinara sauce.
Fried Egg Sandwich. Toast, butter, homemade apple butter, one fried egg. Squish and eat. The yolk is better, if messier, when not fried hard.
My name is Kopek -------- and I’m a pepperhead.
Stewed tomatoes over toast squares.
Over easy fried eggs mashed into grits with cheese and chopped up sausage links.
Jar of spaghetti sauce warmed up with a quarter pound of Velveeta eaten over fettuccini noodles.
Gasp! You are my SOUL MATE! Favorite meal - liver and lima beans! My siblings dreaded my birthday… we got to choose the meal and the cake that my mother would lovingly make. I also added sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes for the perfect meal. My 80 year old mom made this birthday meal just 3 weeks ago for me.
Peanut butter and lettuce sandwich on toast. Slight shake of salt on the peanut butter. Mmm.
Sardine, bacon, and mustard sandwiches.
What’s so weird about pickled beets? I love them.
as a teen if i wanted a chew (and no crackers or other thing) i would have a spoon or two of instant potato flakes. not a preferred snack but i did indulge more than a few times.
Mashed potatoes, definitely.
It’s also a favorite of author Jane Yolen. We should start a club…
My mom loved this. I was once fond of lettuce and honey sandwiches.
Sliced dill pickles and mayo sandwiches on oatnut bread. Lots and lots of mayo.
Mix a small can of chopped black olives and a tablespoon of mayonaise, spread on white bread.
Rice with barbecue sauce.
Truly, we are rare indeed.
When I cook a steak, I serve it over a bed of rice with out giving the steak a chance to rest. The reason being: I want the steak to bleed out! That way the rice can soak up all the bloody goodness for me to consume.
Also:
Mustard on burritos. (Especially chimichangas)
Mustard and ketchup on french fries.
Nacho cheese Dortitos on a bologna and cheese sandwich.
Yum. That is pretty ambrosia from my adolescence.
I love beets, esp. pickled beets. But no one else in the house will touch them or even deign to have them in the house. It’s almost comical, except that I do without beets.
My go-to crazy food is cottage cheese and salsa with Triscuits. The rest of the brood has deemed that combo “gross”. Eh, whatever. More for me.
You must have my tongue DNA. I buy a dozen limes and go through them methodically, slicing 3 or 4 of them in half and salting them and squeezing them into my mouth. I have a partner who says I sound like a ravenous bloodthirsty werewolf ravaging my prey when I’m eating my limes.
The other main one is hot & spicy. My default morning food is a fried egg on a roll or english muffin, bacon, cheddar, and a ring of Blair’s mega death sauce poured on top. I go through a fair amount of Desert Pepper XXX Habanero and Mrs Renfro’s Habanero or Ghost Pepper salsa too.
Pickled okra. Man, I love the stuff!
I’m another that loves cabbage in any form. Especially raw.
