Today I had an unexpected day off of work. Around midmorning, the baby was taking his morning nap, and the 3-year-old was quietly looking at books in her room. I decide to seize the opportunity to take a nice, relaxing bath. Of course, the minute the toddler hears the water running, she comes in the bathroom to see what’s going on. I rolled up her sleeves carefully so she could splash a little without getting them all wet, and she leaned over the edge of the tub and played until I was done. When I got out, I pulled the plug, but let her keep splashing as the water was draining. As I was drying off (not facing her), I heard a splash that was a little TOO loud. Turned around, and there she was, STANDING IN THE (STILL MOSTLY FULL) TUB. With her JEANS, her SOCKS and her SHOES still on! She was soaking wet all the way to her upper thighs.
I said “what did you do?!” (Dumb question, I know…it was pretty obvious what she had done!) She looks at me all innocent, still standing in the tub, and says “nothing!”
The funniest thing about it is that she loves to take baths, and if I mention to her that I am going to give her one, she will run upstairs and strip all her clothes off in about 3 seconds flat (even if it’s the middle of the day and I was telling her I was going to give her a bath later that night). So, she knows she’s supposed to take her clothes off, and she’s more than capable of doing so, so what on earth was she thinking? Maybe she knew the water was draining, and figured she didn’t have time for the details? Who knows?
So…what crazy things have your kids done lately?
