Crazy Trump supporters

Free movement for rich people, serfdom for everyone else!

From another thread, quoting Florida meteorologist John Morales. He doesn’t say it openly but one can pretty much figure out who are the people doing that:

But “of course” that means he admits they are all about “controlling” both the weather and you, they will respond.

My boss loves both trump and musk. He loves his cyber truck, loves EV cars too. His only complaint is that “we” are not acknowledging the damage that mining for batteries does to the ecosystem like we do with the oil industry.

I think musk just wants to be president. Or maybe he is secretly planning to get back at trump for saying nasty things about him on twitter. Did ya’ll see the look on his face when he greeted trump at that rally? Spooky.

Already seen with Helene and due to be amplified with Milton:

Trumpites before storm impacts: “Don’t believe climate change alarmism. This stuff just happens.”

Trumpites after storms hit: “The government is doing this, with chemtrails and HAARP!!!”

*Twitter is a repository of such craziness.

FEMA has been forced to temporarily stop disaster recovery efforts in several areas suffering the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Those pauses came from threats on workers and, in one case, the reported presence of an armed militia.

The sheriff of Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina shared via Facebook that FEMA offices had paused operations in the county after facing unspecified threats in the state… Those operations have since restarted. FEMA operations in Rutherford County near Asheville were paused this weekend due to reports of “armed militia” in the area. The Washington Post reports that the concerns about the militia were shared via email and the outlet confirmed that the emails were legitimate through conversations with federal officials.

trump is famously easy to manipulate, but impossible to control.

Yeah. Partly because he always reverts to form, partly because of his incompetence and irrationality, and partly because as soon as you leave his side somebody else will be manipulating him.

For Putin at least it makes some sense to push Trump into office as a hand grenade thrown into the middle of American governance; he can’t be sure exactly what Trump will do, but he can certainly rely on Trump to do plenty of damage. But if Musk expects to get any specific thing out of Trump he’s deluding himself, even ignoring that Trump is known for turning on people.

One, Elon has enough of his own ego problems that assuming he’s different from all the others who have been burned by expectations of Trump loyalty is very possible.

Second, Trump so far has largely been about deregulation, and nerfing any government oversight for things like safety or unions, which should be helpful for Elon overall.

And they (theoretically) hate the same sort of people.

So, given that the support levels Elon have offered is chump change for him, and his buying of Xitter for being mean to him shows just how much he wants the public adulation that Trump can share… probably a win-win-win for Elon’s POV.

A lot of them want the 1850s back.

I wish I could say you’re exaggerating, but even Trump seems to want to travel back in time. See this:

And repeated it more recently:

Of course you have crazy supporters when they are supporting a crazy person.

Just a little slavery. A smidgeon.

A soupçon of servitude.

a humble bit of human bondage.

I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed.

But I do say no more than 10-20 million people living out their lives in constant misery, tops - depending on the breaks.

Between (YouTube) channels like The Good Liars and (The Daily Show’s) Jordan Klepper, you’d think they’d eventually run out of MAGAs willing to showcase their own ignorance and insanity.

[For the same reason that Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” gig had to have a sell-by date: word eventually gets out]

But no. Not yet.

I suspect there are other similar channels, but for any who aren’t already acquainted, just watch a couple videos from each of these channels (or the others), and spend the next few days thinking to yourself … how did it all get so bad?

These people also remind me of something I’ve long said: Trump really owes his Presidency, in no small part, to the religious right. They’re the only ones in this country capable of totally ignoring endless amounts of profoundly persuasive evidence, and STILL devoting their lives to The Greatest Story Ever Told – a mediocre work of Bronze/Iron Age fiction.

Their collective credulity is only matched by Trump’s bottomless depravity, crassness, cynicism, and vulgarity.

A book I managed to read 4 years ago. I know all I need to know about MAGA folk, so not reading another book on them.
