My vote goes to all the commercials geared towards…uh…older folk aired during daytime TV, especially the one they show during Price is Right for some discount med supply where the woman shouts: “I was DEVESTATED! I had to RE-USE catheters for the REST OF MY LIFE!!!” Arrrgh! You cannot un-hear that.
The Fruit of the Loom guys seem to have a better case.
The BattleTanks vs. Snuggles commercial used to scare me when I was younger, but it was not nearly as terrifying as a pair of ads I saw during a Super Bowl several years back. They were life insurance ads. First ad: a man is playing with his dog, dog bites his hand, his hand COMES OFF and the dog DRAGS IT AWAY. Second ad: because the first wasn’t terrifying enough. Man is underneath his car fixing it, and suddenly stops talking. His wife asks him if he’s okay. We see that HIS HEAD IS GONE and replaced by a pile of ash. Both ads ended with a screen saying these people should have purchased the company’s life insurance, or something to that end.
