Creepy Baby Cakes!

Ok, I am looking for ideas for a cake for my friend’s shower, and I found some that are rather disturbing. Check out “baby 15” here:

Also, this edible baby:

I call the head!

Also, baby 19 with a photo of the ultrasound? Does anyone think taking a knife to the mom-to-be’s ultrasound photo, and then eating it is just bizarre?

Wow, Betty, your fetus is delicious!

I just e-mailed my girlfriend and called her “babycakes.”

Consider me officially squicked out.

Ooo, baby shower cakes! They do seem to attract the creepy factor quite well, don’t they? I always cringe when a baby shower cake comes up on Cake Wrecks.

The belly cake is a pretty common theme, which always creeps me out. We’re going to cut into a pregnant mother and eat her?

Oh, and then there’s this. And this.

While we’re linking to Cakewrecks, THIS baby cake is really, really disturbing:

(Warning: creepy as heck).

Did I mention it was disturbing?

shudder

I’d almost managed to block that one entirely from memory. Now the nightmares will be back, no doubt.

That second cake with the woman in the tub is totally disturbing. It’s like the guests are being asked to eat that “cake” that just came right out of the proverbial “oven”.

No links to the one where the baby’s actually coming out and the text says something like PUSH, [INSERT NAME], PUSH?

Here you go (NSFW): http://i22.tinypic.com/30mux4h.jpg

I hadn’t even considered that possibility! Ewww. That makes it even worse. And it also appears that the “mother” is missing the top of her head.

Here’s some bread you might want to serve with the creepier cakes. (Utterly disturbing, BTW.)

OK the head bread could be cool for Halloween or something but the baby cakes… Just ew.

The work involved in creating something so gross is mind boggling!

In the OP, Cake #20 is actually pretty! The plastic stroller with the pink roses in it . . .
And #13 is rather nice too, made to match the plates and napkins at the party. That’s going overboard as far as I’m concerned, but at least it’s not advocating cannibalism!

Yes, many of them are ok, as it’s not a site meant to show horrible cakes like CaerieD’s (that is some new level of hell, over there.) I use them often to get ideas for kids’ birthday parties and such. Which kind of makes it worse, because people submit their own cakes for others to admire and clearly have no idea how wrong, say, eating a fetus is. With the trainwreck site, at least the people submitting them are aware of how horrible they are.

What’s funny is my friends are sadistic enough to find one of those cakes hilarious, and now I kind of want to recreate one and see if people take it seriously. Kind of ‘candid camera’ for cake.
