Crocodile Hunter - I enjoyed it.

Now, I thought it was a cute movie, and since I saw it for free beside a gorgeous coworker, it was worth it.

I’ll list its pros and cons, for simplicities sake.

CONS:
[ul]They really overdid Steve’s penchant for doing (in our minds) stupid things.

Terri talked exactly like she does in the show - problem is, her “teach the audience” style seems bizarre in a movie setting.

Almost all of the characters were overdone stereotypes.

A lot of the jokes were related to said characters.

PROS:
[ul]It’s Crocodile Hunter!

Steve did really well, with only a few exceptions

A cute joey.

Watching Steve in a fistfight is great.

More interesting animal facts.

All in all, it was pretty good, but I’d reccommend you see it as a matinee, instead of spending the extra for an evening show.

Simplicity’s

Recently my boyfriend and I began to watch the TV show if we ever came across it channel-surfing. We both just crack up at the manic/crazy antics of Steve.

Last night he was a guest on both Leno and the Daily Show.

I’m halfway debating whether or not to see it. I know it won’t be some bastion of cinematic quality, but I do think I would laugh my ass off.

Well, he is funny… And it’s much like the show, if a little overdone :). Like I said, I enjoyed it, but I think I’m glad he’s decided to stick with TV from now on.

I was very surprised to see that Ebert and the other guy both gave it thumbs up.

But I like … no, really like Steve when he’s himself, I didn’t much care for the bits in the ad where he acts. I imagine I’ll wait for Animal Planet to play it, or catch it on pay-per-view.

I still think he should have done an IMAX show, that’d be something.

so. should me and my son see it?
We tlike Steve’s outrageousness, and an article I read said the funny moments are Terri ( his wife) being so totally deadpan.

Yeah, would a two-year old who enjoys the TV show enjoy the movie?

What’s the ‘scary, mommy!’ potential here?

Not having ever actually seen the TV show, I bought a ticket for “Croc Hunter” because I worked my ass off all week and wanted to let my brain idle for an hour and a half or so.

Now I really want to see the show.

Steve is hilarious. Terri is funny. The plot, well, I went into it figuring, “This looks like early-Nineties Jackie Chan movies, where it was pretty much just Jackie being Jackie and getting involved in weird adventures.” And I was right. Sure, the characters were stereotypes and the plot was pretty simplistic, but damn was it entertaining. I’m almost embarrassed at how loud i laughed when the croc kept dragging Steve into the water, over and over and over again.

Opposable thumb up.

I enjoy the Croc Hunter, for a few reasons, that I won’t go into boring detail about here.

That said, I have a 7 year old, and a 5 year old who have seen the trailer played numerous times on Nick, and want to see it. How can I say no? I’m not expecting some cinematic gem, I’m expecting the Croc Hunter, with a flimsy, canned plot, thrown into the mix. I will be entertained, guaranteed.

**** Worldy, unassuming Aussie guy bangs head on keyboard with embarassment ****

Guys, I’m truly glad you enjoyed the film. It’s just so embarassing for us Aussies though. In the fields of esoteric research, we’ve got some of the brightest minds in the entire world working in our Acadaemia, and our gift to the world this year is “Crocodile Hunter”! It’s funny I guess.

Enjoy, and spare the rest of us Aussies a moment of empathy!

Bye!

Given that you enjoy Steve Irwin so much (keep him with our compliments, PLEASE), we might be persuaded to part with Rex Hunt for your viewing pleasure.

Well, The U.S. did give the world our own little gift…

Ernest movies.

Hey, Steve Irwin is a pretty good gift. Better than Paul Hogan. Better than Yahoo Serious. Thanks, Australia!

The only ‘scary, mommy’ parts, as I saw, were - an incredibly ugly woman (Sorry… she really bugged me), lots of gunshots, the crocodile is kinda mean, and (for those scared of small animals), a bird-eating spider.

My 5 year old daughter wanted me to hold her hand during the first snake scene, and the croc scene where he’s going nuts, and snapping at Steve in the boat, “unprovoked”(yeah, right). Other than that, her, and her 7 year old brother really liked the movie, or at least, the parts with the Irwins in it, any time they’d go to the CIA agents, or CIA people in offices on phones, she’d proclaim, rather loudly(well not that loudly, but, you know what I mean)…“Mom, this part is boooorrrrrriiiing”. When it was all over, they both said they wanted to see it again. I think I’ll save my money and just turn on Animal Planet instead, since the parts they liked are the one’s you can see on a daily basis there.

The CIA are in this movie? I’m assuming its the 'Merican version of the CIA cos I work for the Aussie version and we are all about RV’s and Caravans not secret agents and the like.
