I have recently bought some CRT monitors from a friend’s workplace, and I was wondering: Is there a way I can determine the dot pitch of these monitors? I don’t see any information regarding dot pitch on the casing, and I don’t have the original boxes or anything (the company was upgrading, and was selling the monitors for dirt cheap).
So I am just going to assume they are .28mm dot pitch for the time being… unless one of my fellow Dopers can inform me of a method I can go through to determine dot pitch.
I have only seen .25- .28 dot pitch monitors for a few years now but if you posted the monitor
type we could have found out for you. the date & manf is on the back & the model usually on the front.
Thanks, Running with Scissors, for the web page. I wasn’t able to find my particular model there, but it was kewl none-the-less.
And thanks for the offer, handy… I knew I could count on the Dopers out there to be willing to do research to help me out.
In any case, I have come to the conclusion it is a .28mm dot pitch monitor, which probably runs about $80 retail. (This is just from comparison to several websites, with my model).
If you have a magnifying glass and a finely marked ruler, you could measure it yourself. You probably won’t be able to directly measure the distance between dots, but you could count how many dots are in one millimeter.
