Cruises may suck for a teenager but the cruise company doesn’t care. They still want you to drag the little shits along because it’s more profit. Like someone else mentioned, the ad is directed to the parent, not the kid. So they portray the kid as a surly little tart who had fun despite herself and actually loved being dragged along despite her pretensions otherwise.
“Gee, my kid is Whiny Emo Poseur. I don’t think I’ll purchase an extremely expensive ticket for him to come along. Wait! that kid smiled and had fun even though she was clearly not having any kind of a good time when the commercial started. I guess I will bring Kevin along after all. I’m still not going to call him Lord Ravendance though.”
