Cruz Azul vs. Toluca last Saturday...

Any Spanish speakers out there who saw this game? I watched it on Spanish tv and Cruz Azul scored a goal right in front of the Toluca net, but the referee called it off. I could see no reason why it was called off and of course, couldn’t understand the announcer. My Spanish is weak :frowning: - I was going to ask our Office Depot guy, who wears a Cruz Azul jacket, but he managed to get in and out of the office twice without me seeing him this week.

I won’t even go into another goal that Cruz Azul scored and was discounted.

I am not a Cruz Azul follower, but this just seemed wrong.

I love the Internet. Google, “Mexican league soccer”, and then some browsing on the website.

There’s nothing out there on Google along the lines of “we wuz robbed”, but it’s early days yet.

The 2nd annulled goal was actually a good one because the goalkeeper had no control of the ball:

The first annulled goal was not even mentioned in the sporting news. My guess is that it was another offside ruling what eliminated that score.

The internet is great. Thanks!

I agree with Reséndiz, there’s no way he was offside. But I suppose we have the luxury of replay and the line judge does not.

I don’t suppose we’ll ever see a review of the call in soccer. Something similar to hockey would probably work if the ref added the time taken to extra time.
