Something that should have been there day 1 is finally here.
Crysis 2 gets high resolution textures and DX 11 support for a significant visual upgrade, at what is being reported as no significant hit to performance.
Too little, too late, or are you going back for a replay?

Also, the toolset is coming out Wednesday.
It needed the texture pack desperately. A lot of the textures in that game are shameful - seriously like they were 15 years old. They had to cut a ridiculous amount of stuff to get everything to fit into 512mb of ram.
It’s nice that they did this but I think they already blew their chance of this being any sort of success on the PC. People don’t want basic features 4 months late.
As for me, it’ll probably change it from something I wasn’t going to bother with to something I’ll buy for $10.
I already bought it and it’s gotten a lot of playtime, so when I get back on a serious net connection I’m probably going to reinstall it and give it another go. I mean, the underlying game, story, music, etc were all superb. These technical flaws have been more annoying because of the contrast of what was promised or intimated and what we got than because they were so sorely needed and, of course, CryTek’s ridiculous handling of the community regarding it.
Contrast their customer service and community management with someone like CD Projekt Red’s the Witcher 2, which had two significant and brilliantly optimizing patches, it’s easy to see who wins out.
Has anyone actually installed this to see what it’s like? It’s not very useful to look at youtube footage because the youtube compression blurs the crap out of everything anyway, even at high res it’s all blurry.
