Never expected them to do the reveal on the identity of the killer straight away, but I suppose her identity wasn’t really the issue as much as her psychosis, it made sense.
One odd thing: was Sara actually IN the episode, aside from flashback footage? She might have been in earlier, I can’t recall but I seem to think it conspicuously odd that they never showed her face or did anything that required the use of the actual actress for at least the last half of things.
Not sure what to think about her slashing Grissom’s throat open either. When it happened, and I realized that Grissom had asked for alone-time, it seemed like he was dead for sure. But when it turned out to all just be a big put on, I was a little confused on when her daydream began/ended exactly. Was the whole section with Gris praising her, laying on the love, all of it her warped interpretation? Because otherwise, he seemed to go pretty abruptly from laying it on thick to just shouting at her without any transition.
All in all, a pretty good backstory on the killer (the obsession with miniatures, the bleach, etc), though her choice of victims and the ruse of her foster father all seemed a little tacked on rather than something a good writer had planned on and foreshadowed from the start.
And the cliffhanger ending, though inevitable I guess, seemed more annoying than suspenseful. They’d already drug this storyline out through several weeks of false starts and investigations that went nowhere: dragging it out over the season break seems like a little much on top of all that. Oh well.
Did she set Sara up to be killed somehow, all in good time? Or is there something else going on here to this game?
In the trailers, they showed a scene of someone cutting off the head of a miniature. They implied it was one of the CSIs. I’d have to assume it was Sarah. The thing is, that scene wasn’t in this episode.
They wanted to fire Jorja Fox two seasons ago. Maybe they did it.
I don’t know about the firing of Jorja, but they did show the killer cutting the head off a miniature right at the very beginning (before the title). She was replacing it with the one that looked like Sara.
And yes, you should’ve heard me yelling at the tv when I realized they were going to cliffhanger us.
You mean this is it? No new episode until next season? That sucks.
I read somewhere else on this forum that they had some trouble with Sara’s contract and she didn’t show up for the final shooting because she didn’t like the way she was being terminated. This forced them to change things around.
I agree that the slashing of Grissom was confusing. I have no idea what was real and what was imagined on that scene.
“They” didn’t want to fire Jorja Fox; that was all Les Moonves, still pissed about the cast of “Everybody Loves Raymond” and wanting to make an example of someone. He didn’t have a legal leg to stand on in JF’s case and both she and George Eads were back on set in a few days.
Back to the episode, Sara was in it “real time” at the beginning, photographing the scene of the electrocuted guy. As for the rumors that she won’t be back next season, remember last year’s two-episode ender when Brass was shot? It was common knowledge then that Paul Guilifoyle had signed for another season, so there wasn’t much doubt that his character would live. This time, by keeping JF’s contract secret, the show’s producers can keep viewers wondering whether her character survives. Difficult to pull off, not to mention twisted, but I for one am hooked. I assume that when Season Eight begins in September they will take a page from “Without A Trace” and resume the story right after the finale.
Now that I think about it I remember seeing a female janitor at CSI headquarters right at the end of the episode with the house full of murdered showgirls that aired a month and a half ago. In the last scene, in full view of the janitor in the hallway, Grissom was touching Sara, which was shown to be a trigger for the killer in this episode. So there was some foreshadowing, although I agree that it could have been more smoothly set up. Still, bravo, CSI writers, and I never thought I’d write that.
I’m on the fence. As a CSI avid watcher, I liked the ending only about 70%. The writing was good, the slashing was good, but I want to see more indepth Grissom sleuthing going on. I mean damn, I named my Rhodesian Ridgeback after him, for crissake he could show a little more umph! As for whether or not sara will be back, I think she will. She’s said in interviews she loves the show and acting in it. I’d like to now if she’s pregnant, and if that has somethingt odo with her not physically appearing in the last episode.
They did that with the “Nick in the Coffin” season finale. Nick heard the shovel knocking at the coffin, at the same time Warrick’s and Catherine’s shovel was hitting a coffin…turns out Nick’s coffin was cracking and W&C were digging up a dead dog. So I knew that it wasn’t the cops at her door. The bastards tried to fool us again, but we smart’uns knew better!
I hope the season 8 opener is badass and Sara lives. I like the whole thing between her and Grissom - it will make for some intenseGrissom freaking out during the opener. If they kill her, they will lose a lot of viewers, there’s pretty big Jorja Fox fanbase around.
Not me. I’ve been pretty sick of Sara for the last couple of seasons. When they revealed the relationship between her and Gil, my only reaction was, “Oh, great! Now we’ll never get rid of her!” Sorry, but after the forensic anthropologist and Lady Heather, Sara was definitely a step down for him. Not to mention the total (IMHO) lack of sparks between the two. Hell, Gil and Katherine had more chemistry!
As far as “freaking out”, I felt that the bit of that he did at the end of the episode wasn’t convincing at all. He was much more emotionally convincing when he told Lady Heather to “stop” when she was flogging her daughter’s killer.
Nope, count me as one who hopes Sara buys the farm!
:o I was certain that she is pregnant, I didn’t realize there was any doubt! In the past four episodes (at LEAST, maybe further back) I have noticed them covering her tum using both creative angles and her costumes.
Maybe I just noticed it because I have seen Madonna doing it a couple of times now and I know what to look for.
OK, I retract; apparently she isn’t. I did some googling, and apparently in CSI fandom this comes up often.
The official line is that she has poor posture and often slouches, which creates a paunch. (She also lacks a Pilates addiction/eating disorder, which are apparently SOP for actresses these days.) The producers and crew have long since given up on asking her not to do this; so they shoot around it to make her body look more “tv-friendly”.
Next time I will do some research before I post. Paint me blush-coloured. :smack:
