I can never get my cuisinart to line up correctly.
There are three main parts, the bowl (with the handle), the lid (with a part that clicks into the handle), and the little feeder part that fits into the lid. I say “clicks into” and “fits into” but while I can get the bowl to click into place, and the lid to click into the bowl, and the feeder to click into the lid separately, I can’t get all three to click together at the same time.
I know this is some sort of safety feature to prevent me from chopping off my fingers or something, but it drives me nuts. Has anyone figured out how to make the three clicks to happen? Am I not bashing them rightward hard enough? Am I doing the tasks in the wrong order? Do I have a defective Cuisinart?
They’re futzy. They’re hierarchical. The lid (or bowl cover) has to be clicked in place properly before you can install the tall chimney feeder thingie that slides down into the D shaped orifice. And it (the chimney feeder thing) has to come back off before you can remove the bowl cover. Sometimes the bowl cover can be in place and the chimney feeder still won’t push down, there’s a metal bar in the bowl cover that won’t move out of the way and blocks it, and you have to unclick and reclick the bowl cover and try again. The tubular thing that serves as feeder-tupe blocker and pushing mechanism and which is shaped and sized like the cardboard core of a roll of toilet paper does not have those interlocks; the machine needs to be able run with it in or out, and it doesn’t need to be out before the chimney feeder thingie can be installed or removed.
My old food processor had part of its safety system crack due to rough use. I folded a piece of cardboard and jammed it into the safety mechanism so that it was always “hot”. I eventually replaced it since the cardboard needed constant replacing and it was dangerous af.
