Curb Your Enthusiasm had waned a little bit last year, but it came back really strong this year with some of the best episodes ever. Last week’s episode with Bill Buckner was great. Everything with Buckner himself was great - the equanimity which which he took the still constant barrage of hurled insults, and his redemption catching the baby at the end, etc, but the B and C stories worked great too - Leon with the glasses, the car seat (the look on Larry’s face as Suzy rode in the car was hysterical).
Then last night’s series finale was every bit as good if not better, with Larry daring to go there, and then some, with Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s behaviors. MJF showed a great sense of humor about it as well.
I also loved the ending, with Larry and Leon now being exiled to Paris to cover yet another of Larry’s excuses to get out of a charity event.
Yes, this season was very good.
And the season finale was excellent - loved the little kid (and agree, most kid actors are horrible) but he did a great job as a budding Gay boy! The geometrical design stitching on the little pillow for Suzy was priceless…
And who else but Larry would spend a fortune to fly off to France for two months to get out of having to spend an afternoon with sick kids…
A few seasons back, it was iffy if the series would return. I believe Larry David said he would do the show only as long as he had something to say and stories to create. For awhile, it looked like he was going to stop - but glad to see he is continuing.
I found the season uneven, but overall enjoyable. I loved the Buckner episode. My favorite line might be when Susie was supposedly out of earshot after reaming Jeff out and Larry says, “You know what they say about you behind your back? Poor bastard,” and then Susie tells Larry to GTFO.
