Curiosity not necessity (do not Need Answer Fast): vBullet, KDE Konqueror, FreeBSD, VirtualPC issue

I can’t load this site or any other vB-based message board site with Konqueror which is the browser installed as part of KDE on my BSD-7 environment which, in turn, is running within VirtualPC 6 on my PowerPC Mac. And I don’t mean “it loads slow” or “it sometimes times out”, I mean I can’t ever get a screen to load.

Now why would that be? I have a FileMaker-based web site hosted on a laptop with asynchronous DSL for internet hookup (i.e., not particularly robust) but I can load that just fine. And while the SDMB is notoriously sludgy at times, the pattern seems to hold for other vB-based message boards where I’ve never had a “hamster problem” in my regular browser.

Any reason vB would be turning up its nose at any of the following, as far as you know?

•FreeBSD
• Konqueror
• VirtualPC

Perform a quick test by using either a text-based browser from within BSD, curl, or even just from the command line do a “telnet <host> 80”, then type (blindly) GET / HTTP/1.1 <hit enter 2x> and see if you get a normal html response. If you do, it has nothing to do with BSD KDE, or VirtualPC, it’s just the browser.

I suspect it’s just the browser. (Is Konqueror the only one you have available on that platform?)
