Last night I caught the end of the episode of Science Channel’s “Curiosity” series titled “Your Body On Drugs” - the one hosted by Robin Williams. (I guess Robin hosted this show specifically because of his own history of, em, substance issues.)
The show followed users of four different drugs as they were put through some controlled tests while sober and then while high. The doctor running the experiments also talked with the users about the effects of drugs on their bodies. A post-script to the show said that the herion user was in rehab, and the meth user had agreed to go into rehab, but was arrested and incarcerated.
“Rob”, the cocaine user, looked awfully familiar to me. I couldn’t quite place him, then it occured to me: I think he was one of the guys on another Curiosity episode: “I, Caveman”. That was a two-parter hosted by and starring Morgan Spurlock. Ten people, including Spurlock, lived as stone-age nomadic hunters for 10 days.
I think that “Rob the coke user” was on that show as well. I think he was the guy who was an experienced hunter, but left the experiment right before the final elk hunt.
This article has a picture of the guy I’m thinking of: http://www.dailynorthwestern.com/campus/nu-prof-finds-that-modern-humans-can-survive-as-cavemen-1.2649500
He’s the guy on our right (Spurlock is on the left).
This article: http://dsc.discovery.com/show-news/robin-williams-explores-your-body-on-drugs.html has a video that starts with a still image of “Rob the coke user” from the Robin Williams show. Not a great angle, but maybe the videos will show what I mean. I would link directly to the Curiousity videos page, but that plays a very loud video ad by default. A commenter on the Curiosity videos page said that “Rob the coke user” was also on “I, Caveman”, but that’s not official.
I can’t find a list of who was in different Curiosity episodes. Is “Rob the coke user” also one of Spurlock’s “Cavemen”, are they both characters played by the same actor, or am I the one on drugs?
