I’m really glued to “Such Great Heights,” a Postal Service cover by Iron and Wine, off the Garden State soundtrack. And “I Never” by Rilo Kiley, and the entire “Once More With Feeling” soundtrack (the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode), which I have memorized word for word, note for note.

Anyone who liked the opening song from Lain: Serial Experiments go out and find and buy Get There!
Dir en Grey- “Drain Away” from the album Vulgar.
They’re quite the live act, aren’t they? The first time I heard that screaming chorus, it sent chills down my spine.
Right now, I’m listening to Entertain by Sleater-Kinney. It’s got this great stomping, sneering girl-chant near the end. Cool stuff.
It’s hard to pick – I’ve got a current favorite album, so how about my favorite three from it?
Julieta Venegas’ Sí is the album, and my favorites are “Lento”, “Lo Que Pidas”, and “A Tu Lado”. This album recalls some of my favorite dance / pop music from the 90s, but it’s at the same time very modern. And there’s an accordion, so you can’t go wrong.
That’s a fun disk; I really like Vivian Green’s “Love For Sale.” That soundtrack has its ups and downs, though; much as I like Alanis Morisette (and I do), she is *not * a Cole Porter kind of gal.
I kind of enjoy Morisette’s version, though it’s not really true to the Porter style, as you say. Sadly, as much as I love Jonathan Pryce’s voice, I do not like, “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” and often skip over it.
