Cute newborn kittens...

At long last, our pregnant foster cat finally gave birth to her kittens this morning. There are five kittens. The mama seems new at this. She didn’t bite off the umbilical cords or clean up the big blobs of afterbirth, so we took care of it. Oddly, 3 or 4 of the kittens’ cords were attached to one placenta, and 1 or 2 cords to a second placenta (hard to tell how many went where with all the activity and wiggling. I suspect there may still be a kitten yet to come. The cat came from a houseful of animal hoarders. She’s gone from being terrified of anyone to being quite friendly and adoptable.

?? I count six itty bitty kitties in that pic. And I want to see FACES. Itty bitty blind faces.

Aww. Thanks for the pics! Come back with more please!

Were multiple kittens born in the same sac? Sounds like you have a set of identical triplets (the orange marbled) and one of twins (the torties - since IIRC genetically identical tortie cats can have slightly different coat patterns and colors, one of the reasons cloning identical cats isn’t easy). Unusual and weird! Or maybe the placentas just fused together… which is also weird.

Do make sure she’s not retaining any afterbirth.

Gaaaaaah! Kiiiiitttteeeehhhs!

Lynn, I see 1 calico in the rear seat, 3 gingers, and 1 tortie up front, then a blurry mom leg and a crisp mom leg. Of course, I could be blinded by the cuteness.

I suddenly feel like I need a half dozen more kittehs.

Awww. Post more pics. Good for you for fostering her.

Aww! Cute!

Yay! Kittens!

I’ll get better pictures tomorrow.

The kittens were born before we woke up so we didn’t see the sacs.

Okay, some more pictures.

Boy, talk about truth in advertising.

OMG CUTE!!!

OK, I’ll take that orange one. Now. I’m gonna go to WalMart (open 24 hours) and get some KMR and a baby bottle. I don’t know how I’m going to explain it to my husband, or the cats already in residence…but between the fluff and the face and the teensy claws, I am in LOVE.

All of them are adorable. All of them.

Congratulations!

Congratulations, and good on you for fostering them!
They’re all beautiful! Both momma and her babies.

Fostering is kind of a project for my kids, at least while the kittens are still small and fully adorable. Once the kittens are big enough for spay/neutering and adopting, the kids are tired of the work and less enamored, and returning the kittens isn’t as difficult, especially when there’s always a new batch waiting if we are up for it.

ADORABLE!! Dibs on the calico, please!

Ohohohoh! I’m just around the corner, but hubby says no more kitties.:frowning: They are so precious!

The placentas tangle up. The reason it looks like two, is cats have two horned uteri. Kind of a “Y” formation. One set of placenti per side.

WANT. Can’t have, but do want.

Such sweetness in such small little furry packages. WANT!

Ah.
