There’s a lot of daylight between “he that is without sin among you” and “she that has committed multiple felonies”.
Kinda wondering what kind of advice she is dishing out as a “government consultant”, presumably on the taxpayers’ dime.
(posting from Illinois, where we get our moneysworth in prison accommodations for miscreant public officials, not to mention the occasional co-conspiring spouse )
Really who cares but reading articles on this, I am relieved that I not that stupid. Really what a stupid woman, I would never marry anyone for them to be able to study here or get a greencard, hold a job in the U.S, or whatever.
I would allow that Ethiopian go back home to Ethiopia. It is not my problem people can’t stay in this country. Heck my cousin who lives in another country wants to be a model, she is attractive. I did agree to submit her photos to agencies. But that is the extent of it all.
Maybe the modeling agencies will be interested and call, maybe not. But no way will I ever marry her so she can stay here. If the agencies never call I would never lose a wink of sleep. And yes my cousin lives in a third world country with a brutal regime.
Sorry for going off tangent, but my point is I would never do such favor for anyone. People are too nice.
Ms. Hayes is stupid, but really who cares? The Governor’s electability should not depend on the actions of another person.
It would not be fair.
Not that I care but isn’t she too young for the Governor? Really us guys need to quite chasing women that could be our daughters.
I apologize if my posts come off as too heartless, I sometimes come off that way.
The governor isn’t responsible for his fiancée’s bad choices in the past, nor is she for his.
Really, he should tell the people of Oregon what Hillaire Belloc told a heckler during a campaign speech (in his case, who were complaining about Belloc’s religion, not his sex life): “If that offends you, then I pray God may spare me the indignity of representing you.”
He is, according to his own statements. He got blindsided late in a campaign and I’m sure he’s extremely pissed about it, even though he’s putting on a neutral public face.
I’m with sven, and I also would’ve married someone to help them escape some gods awful oppressive hell hole if the opportunity had ever presented itself. But just in general, I hate dirty politics and this is just more of the same.
Implications of possible pot farming she may have been involved with along with someone she was in a relationship. Who hasn’t made a bad relationship choice? She clearly and intentionally broke the law for money and possibly for altruism related to the green card marriage. Both are well past the statute of limitations. Maybe she’s grown and learned. Maybe she’s still got weaker judgement…
…except she’s not being elected to anything. Unlike the Presidential spouse I haven’t ever seen much of a public informal government role for spouses. Is Oregon so wildly different?
Neither claim against her bother me. If I’m okay with people smoking marijuana illegally, I have to be okay with it being grown and sold. And I’m perfectly okay with green card marriages, and have been since I was a kid. In fact, it was years until I realized it was supposed to be a bad thing.
I also have a lot of respect for a governor who would marry a former criminal. So the actual negative for me is that he probably didn’t know about it. Still, sticking by her would ultimately be a good thing from my perspective.
By the time I refer to her (or him, if my sexual interest changed 180 degrees) as “my fiancee”, there isn’t anything I should be learning about them first from the media.
My feeling would be “If you didn’t tell me about those things from your life, what else is there you haven’t told me? What else will the media find?”
How many of us here can actually name their state’s first lady with out looking it up? Because, Texas has had the same FL for 14 years and I have no clue what her name is or what she’s about.
Just to put things in perspective.
Yeah, this. The concept of a first lady at the state level is in no way comparable to the U.S. first lady. They are never mentioned except in an attempt to score political points.
Between this, the GMO-labeling measure, and the endless senate ads, I’ll be very glad November 5. (Until a week later when the 2016 campaign season heats up.)
