Dairy Wars - A Milky Morning Post

mika - I’ll take it, but I can’t email you from work
If no one’s claimed it yet - please save it for me and I will email you when I get home
(or email me from my profile)

Mika, I forgot to add my congratulations on finding a new place to live. It sounds lovely.

Temps here are comfortable. Low to mid 70s. They say it’s going to warm up though. They also say that August (around these parts) will prove to be one of the hottest on record. Yeah…okay. We’ll see.

Rosie, I about gagged when I read that excerpt from F-tard Guy. Good grief! He really does think he’s in some bad French movie! :dubious:

It’s just after 11:00 am and my kids are STILL in bed. I’m gonna have to get them to wake up. They’ve got chores that need doing.

It’s yours. I’ll e-mail you shortly.

**Rosie, ** ewww! For a while there, I was only attracting married guys, so I feel some of your pain. They would always be so gross like that, too.

I miss my parents. I know, I know, I keep complaining about them. I still miss them.

And now, for a telepathic message making Spats’ cousin call him back.

I believe in real love! I am deeply in love with my husbands!

Well, one of them. And Ex, of course.

Hi - just checking in before I head down to the basement to play with clay. Today was the boat inspection - there was one semi-major issue that appears to have gotten us a $2K price cut. And it’s something we can fix ourselves for a few hundred in materials and a lot of time, so that’s good.

Next step is to schedule the sea trial. And if that goes well, we have a boat. Woohoo.

And now, off to the coolness of the basement to get my hands dirty.

I think I have figured out how to get the oven to cooperate. The problem seems to be with the timer “button” on the touch-pad. So I simply don’t use the timer! I have a wonderful little windup timer that works quite well. It does the same thing and doesn’t cause the oven to demand a water filter. So maybe it will last a while longer.

Booooooo to long bus trips. The last one I had to take was about 15 hours and I swore never again. Loud, rude and/or stinky people wanted to sit next to me. Even if there were empty seats. Yuck. I had no choice at the time - the trip was necessary and my old Jeep just wasn’t up to it.

Mika, congrats on the new place! And my sympathy on having to move. I told Mr. SCL that unless someone buys us a home in Hawaii and pays the moving expenses, I’m never moving again. I mean it.

Rosie, I’m glad you found out the creep was a creep before you actually met him. The cheek of some people!

My lovely elderly next-door neighbor (she who gives figs) gave me three lilies of some type for my yard. I don’t know what they are, but they have beautiful white blooms. So they were planted early this morning before the heat got too bad. I’m inside for the rest of the day.

I am very grrrr today. Nothing is quite working the way I want it to. And one of the computer systems I need to use keeps telling me that there are insufficient resources so it can’t do what I want it to. Grrr. I think it’s just being lazy.

My friends who just got engaged over the 4th of July decided to go to Greece for their honeymoon. I’m so jealous now! Our planned 5-day Carribean cruise kinda pales in comparison!

That guy sounds yuck, rosie!

Congrats on the new place mika!

It’s finally cooled off here and it’s great. It’s still plenty summery - in the 80s - but much better than triple digits. I like summer but there’s a limit to what should be summer in the upper Midwest!

Why doesn’t he bring along his wife to meet the neighbors? Sounds like this guy is mistress shopping too, only he wants them within walking distance. I’ll bet that you see him running around the neighborhood soon - that way he can be away from the house for awhile, and come home all sweaty without causing suspicion.

If’n it was Julie who said that, you’d be vigorously nodding your head in agreement.

Tuppy it sounds like your son’s hairstyle was what is known as a mullet. You may want to rethink ever letting him do that again.

mika Boo Mr. Centipede!
Hooray New Apartment ! (And Beer!)

humorous anecdote

As for local guy - for all I know, he might be bringing his wife - I didn’t ask

No, thank Og, it wasn’t a mullet. It was a style popular among the skaters about ten years ago. Think crewcut all around the sides and back but really long just on top of the head, often worn with an elastic in a ponytail at the top of the back of the head. I tried to find a picture but no luck.

Now he just has it really shaggy with some blond cow patches. Yes, I really did say that.

Wanna kill it for me? I hate the little bastards. But I am STRONG LIKE BULL! And will kill it.

And I don’t drink beer - which means more for beer-drinkers!

I’m beginning to hate taking data on this project. I can stand the heat for an hour, maybe two. But we were out there for three and a half hours. Ugh. I’m hungry, and I’m still at work, although I get to go home in about 15 minutes.

Also I have to get RPI to mail a copy of my final transcript to Dartmouth. I wish Dartmouth had told me this while I was still at RPI.

I could go for a beer after today. Blech.

I have returned from foraging and hunting at the grocery store. Woo-hoo! Also, Safeway is back to giving ten cent discounts per gallon on gas until sometime in September. This bodes well for my upcoming road trip.

My dishwasher decided to be a big poopy-head today. I was chatting on my cell to my hubby, who had called to inform me he was on his way home. After I was done chatting with him, I happened to glance over towards my kitchen. To my great horror there was soapy water all over my floor. Dammit! This thing is only three years old!

So, I sopped up all the water from the floor and stopped the dishwasher. The problem was I had to let the dishwasher drain and stuff. So, I reset and re-ran it (yes, I know I was asking for trouble), but it ran just fine and no leaking.

So, after we’re done paying for our road trip, I guess we’re buying a new dishwasher. The warranty is up on the thing anyway. Besides, when one of my neighbors replaced hers (she went with all stainless steel appliances), we found out the builder had cheaped out on the dishwashers. This particular model is one step up from dishwashers for apartments. I hated the damn thing anyway.

Well, off to cruise just a little more of the Dope.

You should be able to request a transcript over the phone, spats.

I just had the nicest thing happen to me. My car fllunked it’s emission test and I had to get it repaired. I took it to our Trusty Mechanic, who said he couldn’t do it and that it needed to be done at a Volvo dealer.

So, nice thing #1: my hsuband drove it in today, since the dealer is close to his work.

nive thing #2: the dealer TOOK IT TO THE EMISSION TESTING PLACE AND IT PASSED.

It had a bad thermostat is all. Yay! nice Volvo dealership people! Yay! nice husband for doing this for me.

Life is very good here at the present moment. Yay! for that.

AND our tutor for #2 son said that he most definetly is NOT stupid (which his math teacher convinced him of last year–he was 7)–he understands the concepts (even some basic geometry and algebra!) and it’s more the rote memorization stuff (2x4 etc). This is good. PLUS-we went to the library and he went off with a librarian and he brought 2 books home that he wants to read. One is for me to read aloud and the other is for him to read by himself for fun! Oh, happy day!
It doesn’t get much better than this. Started the day with hot monkey sex and ended it with a fixed car and an 8 year old who wants to read. (okay, that last bit was probaby TMI). hee.

So, I hope everyone is having as nice a day as I am.

What kind of scummy teacher did he have?? I can’t imagine telling a 7-y/o that he’s stupid, directly or otherwise. eeesh.

I’m done playing in my studio for today. All the pots are trimmed, some are decorated, and some are re-bagged to be decorated maybe tomorrow. I’m going to have some potentially cool pots to sell - I’ll post pics after they’re all glazed.

And that’s all for today. I want ice cream. We’re out of ice cream. I’m gonna spend some time pouting. Don’t mind me. :frowning:

Wellllll, she was a lousy, tenured teacher, that’s who. She had my older son, whom she taught to hate math. I just love her to death, as you can see. I just hope she didn’t damage #2’s confidence too badly.
OK-so my high on life thingy didn’t last all that long–husband just called with the bill for the Volvo. $700 and change. Holy crap!
Gahhhhhhhhh…

rigs - to para-quote Diana Morales from A Chorus Line

Actually, it sounds like, with the tutor, it has - so good on you and the tutor

Just got back from a friend’s house - had to help her with some 'puter stuff - it was in her non a/c’d basement, with no window and no fan - UGH :stuck_out_tongue:
Then I came home to a flipped breaker (the 115 degree heat must have overworked my a/c) - so I’m sitting schvritzing, waiting for the a/c to cool down the house again
Have I mentioned lately I freakin HATE HATE HATE this weather?

I HATE IT TOO

It sucks. Where’s my half-dressed slave boy? I distinctly remember ordering one to fan me and provide me with cool beverages and grapes.
