I saw far too few of these shows on this side of the Atlantic. This is the perfect political climate for some savage commentary on the goings on of the American political landscape. And if I can’t get new episodes I would settle for DVD set of the show.
Savage commentary on UK TV is somewhat lacking these days, alas. The most incisive political attacks come from the impressionist Rory Bremner and his sidekicks John Bird and John Fortune, but it’s so esoteric that it’s both a) not vey funny, and b) not mainstream.
That’s a point. What on earth has happened to UK political satire? Is it too easy these days, or what?
They would occassionally show bits from SI here in America in the late 80s but there’s simply nothing like those godawful funny puppet caricatures on TV here, either.
Good political satire would make hay out of everybody. I’d love to see Spitting Image Whoopi Goldberg, Linda Ronstadt, Margaret Cho as Michael Moore groupies or something.
