So I’m at Starbuck’s, relaxing as I like to do on my days off, a nice book, maybe a Sudoku puzzle. If I’m really on point, maybe a little writing…
Well, no, not this time. Somebody with a wet, drippy, nose snorking, sneezy, coughing cold came in, and took the last table, right next to mine. I spent half an hour cringing away, hoping my hardcover book would shield me, as this sick bitch spewed her virus infested snot with every violent outburst emerging from her struggling lungs.
Now, I understand having to go to work while sick. Some places don’t have generous sick day allowances, and a lot of people can’t lose that day’s pay. I get it. A worker’s life sometimes sucks, and we have to do the best we can.
But if you’re wet drippy sick and you go out to Starbuck’s or somewhere just to get out of the house on a nice day? I’m sorry, but you’re a fucking asshole.
Stay home until you aren’t spewing germs anymore.
Christ, I’m glad that happened after I had already visited my mother in hospice. If it had happened before, I would’ve canceled my visit for fear of giving it to her.
It took awhile to realize how sick she was, and I liked the spot where I was sitting. Why should this be my fault? Why should I be made to give up things because of someone else’s assholery? Why do fucking assholes follow me around making my life miserable? That’s what I’d like to know.
I definitely understood not wanting to get up after you’re posted up, but I would take moving spots over catching a nasty cold any day. There are just a whole lot of people who have zero concern for what impacts they may have on others. Most people, in fact.
I at first tried to parse the title as being about freezing houses with roof leaks everywhere, or such, but eventually gave up trying to figure out why someone would try to force said domicile on someone else, but only on Saturdays and Sundays…
I swear I am gonna start wearing a mask in town. Every eff-ing body is coughing and hacking. I have been Ill and taking Cipro for a week, I certainly don’t want a virus. I am with you, Two many cats.
Looks like getting up and moving wasn’t an option. Obviously sick person goes out to mingle in crowded coffee shop = no bueno. I don’t see why that’s difficult to understand.
