Dams built by Native Americans

Tell me about the dams built on creeks by Native Americans. In particular I’m interested in one I’ve seen on a creek a few miles west of Philadelphia. I’ve heard it called a “v dam” or “vee dam” (?) and heard its main purpose was concentrating fish in the resulting upstream pool. Did turn up almost entirely irrelevant web sites on a search but one about “v-dams” by Indians.
