I still think sarah jeong is a racist and that people like her are counterproductive to progress in america.
First, I have to commend you for showing some awareness of what did go bad in the past, however recent examples show that the points about not learning much do stand.
Your last line here shows that lack of learning is still there, the post I made there was not about Sarah Jeong. As for her, please give her the same chance as you gave to yourself in your previous post.
The posts the right wingers dredged about her were years ago and after an apology from her and others pointing how out of context many of her previous posts were shown, I can grant her some benefits, and realize that still thinking that she is a racist is bonkers, because as AFAIK there have been no examples of racism coming from her as a contributor to the NYT.
Point here is that, Right wing sources of information are really the ones who are counterproductive to progress in America. They are the ones that plant distrust and misinformation about science and social progress.
I’ve admitted error several times on this board. From the duke lacrosse team to this, I would say probably half a dozen times. I don’t go looking for ways to make myself right when I’m not. Or at least when i realize that I am not.
Admitting I’m wrong on one issue does not mean i am wrong on any other issue. Perhaps this is why some people can’t seem to admit error, because they are afraid that people will use their admission of error in one place to undermine their position elsewhere.
I don’t listen right wing sources. I haven’t listened to much beyond npr and cspan for decades. I just don’t have the time sifting through someone else’s spin to figure out what’s going on. Those two sources have reliably given me what I needed to know with commentary and opinion pretty clearly labelled as such.
I will reconsider my position on sarah jeong. I have not been impressed by her and she seems like an overly woke millenial that repels centrist voters with her rhetoric, but perhaps I just misunderstand her.
Just a comment here for all, that is not a protection against bias, what I have seen, specially from CSPAN, is that to keep neutrality many times very spinned trash from the right comes through. And also from the left too, however, as many science discussions have showed me, it is the Republican’s turn to carry the idiot ball more often nowadays.
It’s not immunity from bias but it is protection from it. They seem to practice the spirit of the fairness doctrine. There is quite a bit of idiocy and spin coming through from both sides.
What CSPAN and NPR do for me is it reminds me that most of the world is not far left wing idiots or far right wing idiots.
But right now global warming and covid19 are probably more important issues than the issues where the left is almost intentionally ignorant.
That is a rich thing to say when Trump is the leader of the right.
I’m agreeing with you. Trump is horrible on covid19 and global warming.
Uh, not only on that. Remember that anything Trump touches, dies.

The racism is the single issue that makes it impossible for me to vote for trump. Unless biden steps up the racism in his campaign, I have to vote for him.
What about the incompetence, the corruption, the likely treason, the carelessness, the dishonesty…?
I can think of prior presidents in my lifetime that were probably guilty of those things and i would take any of them over trump.
But for a while there, at least racism was not really acceptable from the highest office in the land.
Other than that, the play was awesome!
I guess we needed yet another regurgitation of his pet topic.
I’m sorry that my harping on things that touch on anti-asian discrimination bother you.
Anything that lets you get to slip in your scientific racism I guess.
I think my favorite part is when you hijack your own thread to (again) talk about supposed discrimination in the NYC school system.
I’m glad you find racism amusing
You don’t understand the words you are using. You can safely be ignored
Your reading comprehension is impressively awful. I guess you couldn’t get into Stuyvesant.
I got in. And I think other poor immigrants should be able to get in regardless of the color of their skin.
