So, fans who don’t take the show very seriously then.
There’s more to entertainment value than mere technical superiority.
I did not care much for Leah, but there’s no question that she was a better dancer than Bill. I think they should just do away with the voting part. Let the judges make the decision, they’re trained for it.
Corbin and Amber are both so good, I see one of them winning.
They talked about that a little on the show before and said it’s not a strict dancing competition. It’s a part dance part popularity contest. Although they should change the scoring system at least a little because it seems to be something like 30%dance 70% popularity.
Also, I noticed that Maks was really humble. I guess some time away from the show did him a little good.
Leah and Tony had been favorites of mine this season. i’m disappointed they didn’t make the finals. Leah had improved week by week.
I’ve enjoyed Bill and Emma. But they really aren’t good enough for the finals. It was their turn to go home this week. I’m surprised fans are still voting for them.
The original idea of the program was to show non-dancers learning to dance. The votes for Bill, Jack, and Leah are votes for the show as it used to be.
The producers have made quite a few changes over seventeen seasons, mostly trying to attract a more-desirable younger demographic. The changes have failed to do this, and the show has lost about one-third of its original audience.
I’ve been a fan since Season One, and I’ve been voting for learning over dancing.
I don’t know that Amber could be considered a dancer before the show started. They said in her package that as a small child she had to pick one lesson - voice or dance, and she picked voice. There’s some coordinated movement in Glee, but she’s never really had to dance, as far as I’m concerned.
StG
Did I hear wrong, or did they say that next week there will be a results show on Tuesday?
Yes, I’m quite sure I heard Tom say that, in the early part of the show.
I’ve been a fan since Season One as well, and at no time was this show about “learning” over dancing. It’s about voting for your favorite. If your favorite is a lousy dancer, so be it. Bill hasn’t learned much of anything, he definitely can’t do Ballroom basics, he’s memorizing mechanical step sequences, and he’ll never dance Ballroom after this. Most non-dancers drop it like a hot potato as soon as they’re off the show.
We’ve had dancers on the show since ever season one. Joey McIntyre danced with New Kids on the Block.
It is rather silly that this Bill guy is in the finals and he’s never scored higher than an 8. Even an 8 is generous. He should have seen more 4 and 5 paddles. However, the producers were hell bent on getting a non-dancer to the finals and they’ve succeeded. They seem to want to prove America loves a trainwreck. Except the 18-49 demographic doesn’t like being hoodwinked. They don’t watch this show and producer manipulation is the best reason to stay away.
I think the producers have a winning formula - bring in stars with solid fan bases or with compelling stories that can attract followers (eyeballs), make it a contest (eyeballs), lots of hard bodies and skin (eyeballs), lots of glitter and glam (eyeballs), you get the picture…
IMHO, they don’t care a hoot about the “purity” of the show from either a dancing or contest standpoint and have no agenda at all other than getting people to watch the show.
And, it’s been incredibly successful. Their number has been down in the past several seasons, but every show has a life span. Tweaking it now isn’t going to bring back a ton of viewers so I hope they dance with the formula that got them this far.
The show bores me if they can’t at least try to do some ballroom dancing. I’m watching the Voice now.
I really expected Bill’s fan base to send him through again. Glad I was wrong.
Corbin/Karina and Amber/Derek both had great freestyles, but I liked the style and choreography of Corbin and Karina’s dance better.
That opening song by Kellie Pickler was awful.
Final Results tomorrow night.
What on earth were voters thinking? My absolute least favorite the entire season wins? Sigh.
It was so apparent that Corbin was the best dancer by far. Jack Osbourne had the best story arc. He came a long way since week 1 and showed a lot of improvement. He was my sentimental favorite.
I haven’t seen any improvement in Amber. She was middle of the pack week 1 and that’s where she’s fallen nearly every week. She dances ok. Nothing Special. Her knees limited her rehearsal time and that’s probably why she didn’t get a lot better by the final.
The viewers have voted and spoken. I’m guessing the Glee crowd must have voted very enthusiastically for Amber.
I’m glad she won.
^Me too. Amber and Derek’s dances were the most consistently entertaining. While they played up her injuries in the rehearsal clips, it didn’t appear to greatly hinder her dancing.
Corbin was very good, but as a virtual unknown to most people he was probably always competing for 2nd place.
Jack was lucky to sneak past some better dancers to make it into the finals.
This show is seriously fucked up. Amber had rhythm but that was it, she basically sat out most of the season or they bored with all the same routines because she was too heavy to do anything interesting. it’s a laugh because the crazy glee fans won’t be seeing Glee much longer, and they did their damnedest to get DWTS to tank as well. This show ranked 7th out of ten shows on Mondays finale with the 18-49 demo. So much for the youth audience. this ridiculous fawning over a rabid fan base has done nothing to get the show decent ratings, but it has succeeded in alienating anybody who actually gave a shit.
I thought Amber lit up the room just about every dance. I can’t judge for technicality, but for heart, soul, passion, and joy she brought them. And I liked her dance tonight better than the other two. Corbin played it way to safe, Jack was a little better, and Amber was the best.
Yes, Corbin was the best dancer - in fact, he was one of the Macy’s Stars of Dance in a previous season. He never made me want to vote for him.
Most weeks, I truly enjoyed watching Amber dance and I flat out loved watching Jack dance and improve over the weeks. I don’t vote for the best dancer, I vote for the person whose dance I enjoyed most and/or who I want to see dance the next week. Sometimes those overlap, sometimes they don’t.
All shows with viewer votes are primarily popularity contests. This is no different. I’m perfectly pleased that Amber won.
Jack got third place just like his sister Kelly. So at least neither sibling can brag they did better than the other.
But to be honest, I think Kelly was a better dancer. She had the bad luck of competing when Donny Osmond was on.
