Il Divo – my god, make it stop. Please.
The judges’ comments were very interesting, I thought.
I wasn’t suprised by the results.
I was surprised to see Willa return. I had never heard of her before the show. She didn’t embarrass herself, but she just doesn’t have that x factor.
I kind of liked il Divo’s routine. (Sorry Twickster.) I guess I like opera lite.
I’m guessing that the order will be:
Joey (3rd) - earnest but he just can’t seem to let loose
Emmitt (2nd) - the most entertaining and I’m pulling for him, but he’s not as versatile as Mario
Mario (1st) - certainly the most talented, though I agree that something sinister lurks beneath that boyish facade. (Caused undoubtedly from being teased mercilessly by that stint on “Saved by the Bell.”)
Gooooooooooooo Emmitt!
Ok. Who got thrown off the island? I think you are saying who I thought would get thrown off, but I need to be sure. Box it if you must.
They are hideous, aren’t they? (But I did enjoy the dancers! Lovely flowing fly-away sleeves on her gown! Great attitude from him.)
I see no need to box it – 'twas Monique, as expected. She was gracious but tearful.
Damn, what a dilemma – dance for who’s best tonight (Mario), or who I want to win (Emmitt)?
I’ll spoiler this since it’s just finished on the east coast.
All 3 of them have 59 out of 60? That reduces it to a pure popularity contest!
I missed the ballroom portion, but I’ll cast a vote for Emmitt simply because he’s the only one who did steps I actually recognized.
Oy! Could it be any tighter? I really do like Emmitt, but I have to admit Mario is the best dancer out there. Should really be interesting tomorrow.
Truly, there wasn’t much to choose between them tonight. Should the judges have been throwing out tens like candy from a parade float? Well, they’re the judges. Me, the closest thing to a ten I saw tonight was Mario’s tango. That was pretty smooth, all right.
Emmitt did a decent waltz, but it was a bit hard for me to rate because the screen was all distorted due to the local ABC affiliate running election results. Jeez, people, I’ve got the Internets and cable news channels if I need to check on the election every five minutes. Which I can do, since that’s about how often they were running commercials. Emmitt also gets props for choosing a Sly and the Family Stone song to do the cha-cha to, but it looked more like a jive to me. Or maybe I’m just OD’ing on the whole thing.
Joey, Joey, Joey; you got moves, but you’re such a strange fellow, and your and Edyta’s costume choices remain so consistently odd, that it’s all just too distracting. I got the whole MGM thing with the sailor suit, but it still looked goofy as hell.
So, here’s how I see it, and I doubt this will be too surprising: Joey goes home, Mario and Emmitt duke it out in the finals, and Mario takes all the marbles. Prove me wrong; I won’t be hurt.
Why have judges? Why bother? Make it all “phone in and vote for your favorite.” Do they not want me to tune in next season?
BTW, it takes less than 20 minutes to watch the show if you filter out all the fluff…and that includes re-watching the “Rebel Yell” jive. The show needs to get shorter as they eliminate contestants. They used to do 11 dances in 90 minutes. Now they do 6. They no longer need all 90 minutes. The finals will be excruciating.
Joey’s rumba was very weird. Outside of that, nothing much to say.
Well, I didn’t vote for Emmitt last night – because I couldn’t get through online. I just told myself my five votes wouldn’t make a difference, because he’s got a lock on the finals.
Mario was definitely low man on the totem pole on the campaign trail. Emmitt - NASCAR race
Joey - Disneyland, Mario - High school gym?
I don’t think there is any doubt that Mario is the best dancer out there, and those dimples don’t hurt either. (Joey, “Two bald guys and a pair of dimples” , loved it.) But I think popularity wise Emmitt has it. Looks much more like the underdog overcoming great odds and his improvement is so obvious. Mario OTOH has been good from the beginning so he has not been so surprising and as unexpected as our NFL hero. So my guess is that Emmitt will walk , or should I say dance, away with the trophy.
And, of course, it’ll take 'em an hour to announce the one couple that’s getting voted off tonight.
Well, plus watch the judges’ pick for best dance of last night – I wouldn’t mind seeing Mario’s tango again.
For Season IV, do you think they’ll pair Cheryl with a strong partner or a weak one? Obviously she can take anyone with decent potential to the finals – do they need to work out some kind of handicap system here?
I agree that the 10’s were given out very generously. As much as I love Emmitt, even I noticed his awkward arms during the Latin dance.
However, I agree with Bruno that Emmitt is irresistible. He is just really enjoying himself out there and it makes me root for him. Unfortunately, I didn’t watch til today so I’m too late to vote.
Mario is technically the best dancer, but he takes himself a bit seriously for me.
Joey also brings a joy but he’s a weaker dancer than Emmitt, IMO. He has an upper body stiffness that makes him look odd. And I totally agree about Edyta’s outfits. What is it with her and draped fabrics? She has a terrific body that can wear any style. Think outside of the box, Edyta!
I tried voting for him last night and couldn’t get through either. So now that’s 10 votes that he hopefully didn’t really need.
The final two have been announced on the East Coast:
As predicted, Mario and Emmitt
Can’t wait for next week!
I haven’t been watching that closely this season and I haven’t voted either but I think Emmet should win. I think Mario had more experience but Emmet has come farther, plus he has a lot more personality.
Plus, I love Cheryl and it would be great to see her win again.
Tonight’s the night!
Would it be wrong of me to order my staffers to go home and cast five votes each for Emmitt? They’ve all refused all season to watch the show, despite my making it clear that it would be a really easy way to suck up to me.
