twicks - Ty’s partner isn’t Lacey - she’s Steve-O’s partner. I did notice that Ty’s partner can to rehearse in Ugg-type boots. She may be afraid of getting her toes stepped on, but that would make it very hard for her partner, I think. (I had the sound muted for their dance, so I don’t know if they mentioned it.) I was pleasantly surprised at Ty’s dance - he’s seemed so stiff.
Steve-O is doing the dreaded “walk between dance moves”, rather than dancing the whole way through. And I still want to wipe that smirk off his face.
Wozniak is just painful.
Shawn did really well, I thought.
Blonde girl is a whiner. I want her gone.
Reality-TV woman is really dancing. Does she have a background in it?
David Allen Grier seems to do better if he’s playing a part. His pro needs to capitalize on that.
Gille what’s-his-face isn’t as hot as he think he is.
The football player was better than mediocre, but not much.
:smack: I originally put “his partner” – shouldn’t’ve changed it. (Who is his partner?)
The other thing I wanted to say – Julianne’s BF’s attitude was much better this week. They’re solidly middle of the pack, and not just because it’s Julianne.
Ty’s partner is Chelsie Hightower – another alumnus of SYTYCD (with Demetri and Lacey) which is starting to look like the farm team for DWTS.
I personally think bull riders are the bravest/craziest people in the world. To see Ty so obviously terrified to be on the dance floor just cracks me up.
And I also think it would be poetic justice if Melissa (Bachelor reject) wins the whole thing.
Ah, good, that explains the brain fart – I’m a major DWTS fan also (which I’m sure just surprises the hell out of everyone who hasn’t seen me in those threads all summer ;)).
Ugh, seconded. I’m not a fan or even a regular watcher, but I happened to catch this last night, and I hated Holly right from the beginning. Terrible attitude in the training sequence. Has anyone else on the show come across like this, or can the rest of the dancers convey the feeling of at least wanting to be there?
It’s people like Holly who make me very, very happy that I married a geek.
On edit: I’m actually kind of sorry I didn’t stick around for Grier and Woz’s numbers.
Denise was not good.
I seem to be getting a different vibe from Holly. I think she’s really trying and just not getting it. I’m not seeing a problem in her attitude, just her ability. And Dmitry is not a good pro.
Steve-O just looked like he was in pain. Watching Wozniak’s dress rehersal might have caused it.
Shawn looked really, really young out there. Her face kept saying “OMG!! I’m dancing!!! On TV!!! This is so cool!!!” It just seemed like there was more emotion in the dance than her face was capable of conveying because it’s just a really young face. (or maybe, I’ve just gotten ancient).
There’s something slightly odd about the way DAG dances. I’m not sure what.
I’m loving Ty. I don’t want him to win, but he’s my “adorable athlete who never danced before, but is giving it his all” this year.
Clearly the two of them split the bimbo vote, which landed them in the bottom two. As to how any pro-bimbo voter chose one over the other – who knows?
Since Denise did better than Holly in the dance-off, that presumably means the viewer vote was quite one-sided. Do you think the dance-off will ever make a difference? (Since we don’t know viewer vote percentages, of course, we’ll never actually know, I guess.)
I prefer the practice in previous seasons of having the judges pick their favorite dance from Monday for the Tuesday performance – I’d much rather watch one good dance than two bad ones.
I know the voting audience usually eliminates talentless bimbos early on. That’s one of the better things about the voting audience. Thus I find it gob-smacking that they chose to keep the woman whose picture is next to the word “bimbo” in the dictionary as an illustration, especially since she was whiny to boot, AND the alternative had Max (who has, I gather, something of his own fan base) as partner.
I suspect there might be a not insignificant number of unusual voters who are wouldn’t normally bother but are willing to go out of their way to vote for Hef’s girlfriend.
I gave six of my votes to DAG, and the other 5 to Ty, since they need them more than the folks at the top. Too bad that only two of the bottom three will go home tomorrow – Bunny Girl (whose placatory grimacing during judges’ comments was just painful), Steve-O (and yikes, Lacey sucked as bad as he did tonight), and Woz all need to go. Now.
Lil Kim is impressive; of course, she’s got one of the best male partners.
Shawn’s Lindy was disappointing, I thought.
Speaking of the Lindy, why do they keep giving such BS history on it? It dates back to the '20s, and was named for Charles Lindbergh (Len last week said something about it being named for “pretty girl” or some such nonsense), and was big during WWII, not the '50s. Link.
I was sort of hoping that Steve-O might turn out to be a bit of sleeper, but that clearly ain’t going to happen. He was bloody awful. The only thing worse was Wozniak, who frankly should never have been on this program to begin with.
Twickster already said what I came here to say: too bad it’s not a triple elimination this week, so Holly could go with them.
Lest it seem I’m being overly negative, this is shaping up to be some of the tightest competition in several seasons. Adding the Lindy hop was just OK, but some of the choreography for the Argentine tango was riveting, especially the routines by Derek/Li’l Kim and Cheryl/Gilles. I wouldn’t mind seeing some more of that.
I’ve become a Ty fan, to my surprise. The first week I was Ack! ack! But with things like his aplomb last week and his physicality this week, I hope to see him stay on for a while longer. I don’t see him overtaking Gilles and Melissa, but I’m looking forward to see how much farther he develops.
Yeah, me too! He has turned out to be one of the most delightful surprises of the season. He’s so low-key and macho, but he’s taking the whole thing seriously and, as one of the judges said last night, actually learning to dance.
