I’m an Old Person, and speaking on behalf of Old Persons – please, please don’t put any more 80 year olds on this show.
I’m surprised at how much I like Ochocinco’s personality. He’s adorable. As a dancer…foxtrot is not his thing, but he may get a chance to improve.
I’m not ready to say that the PCD is on the fast track to Mirror Ball Trophy. As she said last week, booty bumping is one thing, salsa & foxtrot are something else altogether.
Evan Lysaceck has a crazy schedule. Donny Osmond continued his Vegas performances during DWTS and looked totally exhausted in the finale. Evan is younger. It’ll be interesting to see how he does on DWTS after the ice tour starts.
I pretty much agree with the comments so far. Worst last night were Aldrin, Gosselin and 85. Aiden was a bit better than last week, but not enough to last more than another week or two, I reckon. I was pleasantly surprised by Niecy, although that VOICE gets to me after a while.
Evan and Nicole definitely seem like the most likely potential finalists in the early going, but I agreed with Len that there was too much gimmickry in her routine. Tens for that were too much, IMO. Erin looks to have a good chance to make it as far as the semis as well.
Another vote for Anderson’s staying in (Monroe) character after the dance to be a little…odd.
The rest left little impression.
Oh yeah, Brooke: aside from her poor showing on the post-dance chat, her voice is too weak to hear easily over ambient noise in the hall. Get someone else, please.
I hope we don’t see any more conflicts with the trainers. This is supposed to be an up beat show. I’d like to think everyone is having fun.
Sure, it’s hard work. It’s probably the worst way for a total beginner to learn. They only get a few days for each style. It has to be extremely confusing. I’m impressed that the stars manage to pull off any performance at all.
The painful dancers are so very, very painful this season. They need to stop putting an old person on the show, especially one as dignified as Buzz Aldrin.
Did she ask to leave because of her partners injury?
Shannon Doherty
I can’t believe people voted to keep Kate. Is it some kind of bad joke? Let’s watch her have a melt-down on tv? I’m just baffled.
I wonder if all the bad press Shannon got 15 years ago (90210) hurt her. Do fans really hate the woman that much? You’d think they’d forget all that bad press by now. 15 years has gone by
I figured Shannon would last through at least two eliminations.
I’m pretty bummed right now. The fan vote can do such crazy things.
Apparently a bad injury – the muscle in one knee has completely detached. He may not need surgery, but will be off the dance floor for at least six weeks. They’d planned to sub in his dad, Corky, if they (Mark and Shannen) hadn’t been eliminated.
Re: Relative popularity of a few tabloid figures:
I don’t think it’s so much that people dislike Shannen as that she doesn’t have much of a fan base; she hasn’t had many big roles recently, and isn’t really in the spotlight.
Do we know if Pam was actually in the bottom two? I forget how they do it on this show, whether it’s really the bottom two or just the bottom one plus another couple they think will make for good dramatic tension. If she was bottom two, I find that interesting – I’d’ve thought she’d’ve come in with more of a fan base – guess the straight males watching with their wives are voting for the football guy.
The one that surprised me was the soap guy – as more and more soaps get canceled, it’s hard to believe anyone is watching any of them any more, but apparently a few people still are.
That must of been a brutal rehearsal last Monday. First they report that Mark Balas got injured during rehearsal. Now, they report that Evan Lysacek broke two toes rehearsing that day.
Evan says he’ll continue dancing and skating. He’s a tough guy.
Holy Jamoly, what a load of crap dances tonight. Only Evan (broken toes and all) and Nicole, as usual, seemed at all decent. Even there I agreed with the judges dinging her for not putting enough quickstep into the routine.
Only two other comments. Firstly: poor Aiden. I seriously doubt even the original Jesus C. Himself could dance a quickstep to ‘Hey Soul Sister’. Secondly, I’m actually finding myself impressed by Pamela and her thoroughly professional attitude. Maybe the drama’s been adited out, for whatever reason, but it appears she just goes out and works, without wallowing in all the histrionics that pretty much define the rest of this group. Hope she sticks around for a few more weeks.
Er, three comments, then. That was fairly cool of Louis to speak out on gay marriage like that. Hey, go for it, dude.
I loved Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough’s tribute to the Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly movies. I’ve rewound and rewatched it six times. Yeah, it didn’t conform to the boring ass rules of ballroom. I could care less. Best entertainment in the entire two hours.
Really, really good ballroom dance is exciting and fun to watch. However, almost none of these “stars” are capable of performing at that level. So, we get boring stuff like Erin and Mak did with the blindfold. Or the total clusterfuck that Kate and Tony made us suffer through. At least Nicole and Derek entertained us.
I dunno know. I may have to skip a few episodes and let some of the worst dancers leave. I can’t sit through another dance from Kate and Tony. Or that soap opera guy.
I’ll give Buzz Aldren one more week and then he needs to leave room for people that can really dance. I liked his performance tonight. But, it wasn’t a dance at all.
I actually liked Maks and Erin’s blindfold number.
I thought Pamela was much, much more attractive just being real. There were moments where she was just being herself and showing a bit of vulnerability and I thought those were lovely moments. And then she had to make a joke about her being a sexpot and the moment was gone.
Kate just doesn’t have a musical bone in her body, bless her heart. I don’t feel one tiny bit sorry for her that the paparazzi are haunting her. She signed up for it and pocketed the money. Now’s payback time.
Chad’s number was better than last week, but not worth a “7” IMO. Jake did a lot better than Chad and only earned 7’s.
Nicole and Evan are ringers. Not much to say there, except I hate Evan’s dark makeup.
Buzz is limited but he does try.
Niecey was concentrating so much on capturing the emotion that she lost her footwork. Was Louie trying to tell us, ever ever so subtly, that he’s gay?
Yeah, Lacey has never really understood the DWTS vibe, as I commented several times every season she was on. Glad to not see her this season. (She was on in the beginning? I missed the first few minutes, just getting home from work.)
I loved Derek and PCD’s number – very fun, very energetic, very well danced. (Also glad they went back to finishing the show with one of the best numbers.) Agree, who gives a shit if it was textbook or not. I gave all but two of my votes to it; gave those other two to Jake and Chelsie. That number (“Dance Like an Egyptian”) wasn’t great dancing but I thought it was creative and fun.
One question – they usually get their music assigned to them. Was that the case again this week, or did they have any say at all, given that the pro had to not just choreograph a dance, but come up with a story as well? It would truly suck to have to come up with a story to some random piece of music that you’d never heard before.
Is it just me, or does this season really pale in comparison to last year? I don’t like the new graphics they use when announcing the scores, I don’t like most of the graphics, actually.
And there’s no one I really care about this season like I did last season. I mean, I was so enamored with Kelly Osborne and Donny Osmond and Maya. Even the olympic skate boarder and some of the others got my attention - I was ready for them to all do well.
This time around, I find myself looking at some of them and just going “eh.” Which makes me mad.
And yes - the 2 most painful for me right now are Kate Gosselin (because I just don’t like her and on top of it she’s awful - unlike Kathy Ireland last season who was bad, but at least I liked her.) and Buzz Aldrin (because I love him but it’s just bad, bad, bad - makes Tom Delay look almost good!)
Niecy I could root for - even though last night’s dance was not good - but it did have moments. That was a beautiful spin she did. But I agree, I really think Evan and Nicole are the clear cut leaders - and the rest is just stuff to get through.
