Dancing with the Stars

If they win – I will slit my wrists. I really will.

This sucks.

There has to be a fix in. One man show class and true dancing ability and the other woman shakes her tush quite nicely, and the woman wins?

10’s for the freaking free dance? That was just wrong.

Wrong wrong wrong.

I am truly pissed about this.

Let’s face it; sex sells, and Kelly and Alex were all (well, mostly) about sex. John and Charlotte were more well-rounded, classy and mature. Both John and Kelly improved vastly over their first dances, but I still think that with John and Charlotte the total package was so much more entertaining.

Oh, well.

Twickster - Are we the only ones watching this?

Twicks, you still with us hon?

I agree, I think it was rigged. John had so much more to learn and do since he had to lead in the dances and Kelly just had to shake her tush and boobs a lot. As good as the praise was that they gave John they’d never give him a 10. Yet Kelly does a dance with several flaws but lots of tushy waving and she gets 10’s? I knew it was rigged right there. They probably wanted an ABC star to win it all.

During that last dance I noticed her stop and look at Alec several times before she started dancing, it looked very awkward so I doubt it was part of the dance. Also she looked very wobbly after one of those spins.

At least I only started watching this a couple weeks ago and didn’t get sucked into this from the start.

Yeah, I’m still here. I’m in shock, but I’m here.

Bleeding from the wrists.

My thoughts exactly. I saw them throwing up the 10s, and I said, “No way!” Unbelievable. If that’s the way it goes, I’m not watching if they do this show again.

Kelly was very wobbly on several steps and he dropped her when he put her down. She landed on her knees and it was not smooth or graceful. As soon as they gave her three 10s and didn’t mention the mis-steps, I knew that they’d won.

I have a nasty suspicious mind, so I agree the judges’ results were fixed. Not to pick the ABC star as such, or for the sake of the boob shaking, but to apply a fig leaf to the flaws of their stupid rating system. As in, they KNEW the audience vote went to Kelly, and so she was going to win NO MATTER WHAT.
As in, it didn’t matter if the other couple were Fred and Ginger reincarnated, and Kelly and Alex tripped each other into a dozen pratfalls. The judges could give John and Charlotte a total score of 60 out of 60 and a total of 0 out of 60 to Kelly and Alex and STILL K&A would be declared the winners.

And so what could they do to make it look better? Why, have the judges suddenly develop a blindness to the flaws in the final performance so the larger audience would see that the team that got the hghest score from the judges won.

What a rotten system.

I’m pissed. And just a little confused, but I’ve been confused about the premise of this show from the getgo. In ballroom dance competitions I thought the judges really judge the couple based on the man’s technique and ability to lead and the lady’s ability to follow–not to mention each dancer’s footwork–and yet all the criticism and attention was directed at the “stars.” But if the judges were looking at the fellas’ technique and how well the lady follows the fella’s lead, then the show really isn’t fair since poor John, Evander, and Joey aren’t professional dancers. I think that to make the show more fair, they need to rethink the pairings of the couples and perhaps get all novice dancers.

Now about tonight’s performance, I don’t see how Kelly and Alec got a 10 in the freestyle. I mean yes, Alec’s technique was excellent, but Kelly kept fucking up. They tried to play it off, but I noticed Alec’s grimace before they got ready to do the last lift, and then Alec dropped Kelly at the end. I thought their routine was sloppy with the lifts and some of the footwork where Kelly was off-beat. I was rooting for John and Charlotte because John really did have it tougher, but he is consistently a solid leader. As far as John and Charlotte’s freestyle routine, they had fewer errors and just looked good, had fun, and made some difficult dances look easy. Oh well.

I thought Kelly’s freestyle routine was horrible. She had too many moves that were clumsy. The cartwheel (whatever they called it) and the helicopter spinning would be bad enough if well-executed. But butchered, they were embarassing to watch.

She practically fell several times and when they danced side by side it was amazing how off they were.

As much as I hate to say it, John also looked a little off a few times during his free dance.

That doesn’t mean Kelly and Alec deserved 10s. Not even close. She seemed to keep forgetting the dance, and their choreography was nowhere near as good (smooth, flowing, polished) as John and Charlotte’s. Plus, they (she) couldn’t execute it. Kelly came a long way, but not far enough.

Seeing the way that the judging goes (tie goes to the winner of the audience vote), the winner of the audience vote was mathematically guaranteed to win it all. At this stage, there was no reason to have the ballroom judges at all. And someone must have figured that out. No matter what they got from the judges, K&A were going to win. I felt like the judges were instructed “these are the winners, try and make it look semi-legit.”

Or, in other words, the scoring still sucks.
So, if I do take ballroom dancing, will there be guys who look like Alec there?

I was disgusted as well. No 10s until the final competition and then 3 of them? Gah.

Especially since I observed Kelly watching her partner to figure out where her feet were supposed to be going at least once.

It’s ok with me that Kelly won the competition- that’s what happens when you give half the power to choose the winner to the audience at home. It was not ok that Kelly got 3 10’s and John didn’t get any.

Last night I was in shock – this morning I’m just pissed.

John was classy as hell about it – but you know he’s pretty freakin’ pissed too.

Were the “winners” on Good Morning America today?

another vote for “John O’Hurley wuz robbed!”

that final free-style “drop” of Kelly’s made me go “ooo, that’s gotta hurt” when she thudded to her knees. unfortunately, in fairness i did have to give her mild props for gritting through to her final pose even after that. but 10s across the board??? no way, Jack.

i felt like it was fixed as soon as i saw the second “10” from the judges. what suckitude!

John and Charlotte danced, for gawd’s sake! if i wanted to watch people strike poses and flail various limbs and body parts to be artsy, i could find some mime on a streetcorner somewhere.

Exactly! And John and Charlotte’s dance told a story, which is something the judges always noted. That was brilliant, having Charlotte get John’s hips going.

When I watched John and Charlotte’s final dance, I totally forgot that John wasn’t a pro and that this was a contest – it was just two people dancing beautifully together.

Kelly’s “dance” was more appropriate for football cheerleader tryouts.

Add me to the “John and Charlotta were robbed” group. I thought Kelly’s routine looked more like a Solid Gold Dancer attempting a badly choreographed gymnastics routine than anything else.

I had just finished telling my husband that no one had ever gotten 10s in the competition in response to his remark that there was no way Kelly would win unless she managed to score 10s all the way across. And then she got 10s all the way across. Me:
