Danielia Cotton, Little White Town: pick up this album!

I had the luck of seeing Danielia Cotton in concert this past weekend opening for Toad the Wet Sprocket, and even though I came in late and only saw her perform one song (Pride), I was blown away. First thing after the show I picked up her album, Little White Town, and I’ve been constantly listening to it since. The album is awesome and I have little doubt that in the next few years she is going to be BIG.

This girl has got an awesome voice and is a talented songwriter. Her music is hard blues rock with a touch of gospel. Why she’s not on a major label is beyond me; I buy CDs all the time (I have over 300) and I have to say that this album is one of the best that I’ve ever bought.

You can listen to some samples of her music at her official website, or on Amazon, where, with eight reviews (you can consider mine a ninth) she’s batting 1.000 with all five-star ratings. I keep changing my mind as to what my favorite song on the album is, but Devil in Disguise, Fast, It’s Only Life, Pride, and Today are all standouts, but any song on the album is worth listening to.

If you get a chance to see her live, do it! I only saw her perform Pride, and that was amazing and a far better version then the one on her album (which also kicks ass). I’m keeping an eye on her concert schedule in the hopes that she comes back around again soon.

Has anyone else on the board heard about her? I did a search and turned up zero results.

Toad the Wet Sprocket? What are you talking about?
looks at Glen Phillips website, finds news about tour

HOLY SHIT!!!

I hafta go see them. I really wanted to go when they last toured, but I was 17 and it was 18+.

Anyway, sorry about the hijack. “Hard rock blues” isn’t exactly what I’d consider my thing, but I’ll check her music out. Tomorrow. It’s a little late for that now.

How was the show?

Toad put on one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen, but we lucked out because it was the first date on their tour, so they were nice and fresh and pretty pumped up (at least as much as Toad the Wet Sprocket can get pumped).

They had a couple of rough edges because a couple of times Glen Phillips started playing the wrong song. It actually made the concert more enjoyable when that happened because they’d stop playing and Phillips would get a hang-dog look and mumble “I fucked up”.
