To answer your question, Sangfroid, requires some general bookkeeping. Day 1 is usually about game mechanics, so I’ll get my thoughts out of the way now.
First, we most likely have three scum. Last game was an open game, so I didn’t see this mentioned, but for our new players: you can find out the likely number of scum in a closed game by taking the number of players and taking a square root of that number. Alternatively, you can just divide by four. Either way, this game points to 3 scum.
Now, the part that answers your question: this will be an extremely quick game due to the number of players. Here’s the worst-case scenario:
D1: we mislynch, bringing the likely total down to 6 town, 3 scum.
N1: scum kill, now we’re at 5 town, 3 scum.
D2: mislynch, 4 town, 3 scum
N2: scum kill, 3 town, 3 scum
D3: lynch-or-lose, depending on how ties are broken. If no majority is reached (how could it?), scum wins on the following night kill.
Powers could manipulate these numbers, but we don’t have a good way of gauging their impact on Day 1. Depending on how that third day shakes out, we could have only two mislynches between us and losing the game.
So, tips on how to play? Lynch the bad guys, of course.
Let’s get things started and get a vote on the board, though. I vote Prof. Pepperwinkle. I’m reading a lot of effort in looking like he’s engaged, but his posts don’t yet actually look engaged. It’s a fine line for me; his posts, on the whole, read fine. He just seems very ‘present’ for someone who is posting about where the other posters are and reposting the rules. Call it a very thin gut feel.
