So I gave up for a bit on this game, I was fine with dying to enemies or stupidity. Was heading back to the first dragon bridge to reclaim my souls and… I fell off the bridge by the bonfire at the beginning of the Undead Burg >.<. I think it’s time to call it quits for a little when you’re walking off bridges when you’re not facing any enemies.
That probably wouldn’t have stopped me if that whole section wasn’t so goddamned long. I wish there was a bonfire just before the dragon bridge…
There is one to you left literally right after you cross the bridge if I’m understanding where you are talking about. Is it the very first time the dragon swoops down then disappears and there are some generic soldiers on the bridge? Or is it the bridge where he sits perched on the castle and torches the bridge everytime you step towards the middle? If its the later then there is also a bonfire very nearby. You have to sprint towards the dragon and just before he burns you you can step off to the right and down some stairs. Keep going down and you will kick a ladder down to get to the bonfire in the undead burg. Either way you are VERY close to a bonfire.
If you can give more specifics on your loc I can walk you thru getting to a bonfire. Don’t give up!
That section is easier to get through if you have a shortbow. Use the bow to snipe the firebomb throwers at the top of the tower, and to pull the enemies out from the room across the narrow walkway.
To go into first person mode with a bow (not possible for crossbow), switch to the bow, press Y to wield it two handed, then press Left Shoulder (for Xbox360).
It’s the one where you’re running into a dragon and have to dodge off to the right.
My point wasn’t that I was angry at the dragon or losing to that or anything, I just decided to cool off a bit because it’s rather frustrating when you die not because of the game’s challenges, but because you sent yourself careening to your death when you were in absolutely no danger, that’s usually a rather good sign that your reflexes are failing and it’s time to take a break lest you start dying to stupid things you normally can beat.
Also, so far nothing has dropped any bows for me, and blindsighting with magic (or crossbows) is rather dodgy just like in Demon’s Souls. My plan is mostly to make a mad dash with my shield at the ready and hope I take few enough hits that I can outrun his wind up.
Shield won’t help there. You have to sprint and duck down those stairs to the right. Dont roll into them or dive or anything. Just straight up run. He will swoop and start breathing fire before you get down the stairs but it’s easy enough to make it. I’m a knight with full gear and run slow and still make it.
Also you can purchase a short bow at the merchant right near the bonfire you are currently at.
