Date Movies

Yes it’s true. I have a date. Hell, I have a regular G/F. (waits for applause to end)

OK we’re going to chill at her dad’s and watch movies for sweetest day, so what movies do we watch? I figure we will watch two. I want to have a good time and not be overly romantic and stuff, maybe a good drama and a comedy or a horror. NO chick flicks, please!!

Help! I have two hours to decide!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Mars Attacks!
A Life Less Ordinary

Cruel Intentions
Rocky Horror Picture Show
A Clockwork Orange
anything Monty Python

Why would you want to watch a bad carbon copy when Dangerous Liasons is available and is a MUCH better movie.

Because Ryan Phillippe is much better looking than John Malkovich.

How about:
Jerry Springer Too Hot For TV(any of them)
and
Poison Ivy?

How can you say such a thing???

Any of the Lethal Weapon movies work. Mystery Men is fun. Sleepy Hollow is good. There are tons of movies to rent. You both should go and see what pops out at you.

Ok, your intentions are un-romantic, but /without fail/, any time I’ve watched a Bond flick with a date…

…we don’t finish watching it, let’s put it that way. I think I owe most of my love life to Pierce Brosnan.

(shudders)

The Princess Bride.

The Truman Show.

Life is Beautiful.

**Bedazzled **is a fabulous date movie.

It’s very well made and written, the leads are good looking and charming and yet not threatening to you or your date.

And it leaves you on a romantic note.

A holiday where you buy presents for your SO. I heard it was started about 20 years ago by candy companies trying to raise profits.

maybe a movie directed by Tim Burton, such as Edward Scissorhands or Sleepy Hollow? you can’t go wrong with him.

I’ll suggest any decent version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” or “Romeo and Juliet”.

I’ll also suggest “The Lion In Winter” (not particularly romantic, but it IS my favorite movie), “Gone with the Wind” (probably too long) or “Mr Smith Goes to Washington”.

I would like to suggest you avoid “Showgirls” and “I Spit on Your Grave”.

Or for that matter, anything made by Bob Guccione or Andy Sidaris.

unless he wants the date to go really, really well.

With her ddad there? PLEASANTVILLE

A Clockwork Orange? Are you insane?

The first movie I ever saw on a date was Pi. I would not recommend this as a date movie. Just sayin’.

I’m partial to The Thin Man myself. You and your GF can watch it and hope to have a relationship as cool as Nick and Nora’s.

Edward Scissorhands is a definite date movie. You could also try Keeping the Faith if it’s already on video/DVD.

God help us if somebody makes a movie titled Being Ryan Phillippe

Goose, are you from Michigan by any chance?

I once had a girlfriend who got mad at me for “forgetting” Sweetest Day, to which I responded, “What the f@#! is Sweetest Day!?” No, I will never celebrate that holiday; I refuse (not that anyone else I’ve ever dated has heard of it). We already have Valentine’s Day.
