This really happened at today’s PGA tourney.

Sergio Garcia’s Tee shot went into the crowd, hit a woman on her ring finger dislodging the stone from her wedding ring,it was temporarily lost in the long grass. Feherty says"I guess that’s a diamond in the rough." He also tossed in a few more zingers something about there being “a lot of facets to that shot” and “if Garcia hits it fat he might carat (carry it) to the green.”

I was amused.

I’ve always said that a good color commentator can do either of two things: teach me something about the game or make me laugh.

MOST color commentators don’t do either of those things. Feherty makes me laugh regularly, and occasionally teaches me something .
